well the base bars go across and are high enough that the sunroof can still be used, then the bike attatchment will go onto the base bars...

Yes, mine is the factory one... you can also get a "thule" or a "yakima" (they don't sit up as high)... I personally like the look of the VW ones better... and yes they come off quite easy...

You put them on and the ends curve around the car into the door jam and the rear ones kind of hook above your back window then you just take the key and tighten them down on both sides, sorry I couldn't explain it better than that... Below is a link to driver gear... you will need the base carrier bars first, then the attatchments for different things attatch to those carrier bars... You can check our classifieds here on the org or you can check ebay... I got mine used (base bars and bike rack for 275 used here on the org)... Like I said, I think OEM look the best, but you can research out "yakima" or "thule" and I am sure there are other brands out there... If you decide to buy used, make sure that they are coming with the keys for the locking end caps (and make sure those end caps aren't broken as they are kind of fragile)...The end caps unlock and then flip of revealing the mechanism for tightening the clamps on your car, then they fold down and lock covering the mechanism (this assures no one can come unscrew your roof rack) Hope this helps a little
