Thumbs up New NB owner in NC

Hey everyone my name is John and Im a NB addict!
I just got my NB last friday and have fell in love with it! Shes a 2004 Lagoon blue with 50k miles and a rear spoiler!

I have a nice little mods list going already...wanting to throw on some Eibach Pro-kit springs, VW "monster" floor mats, tint on the windows, and maybe some cool looking factory wheels that will replace the steel wheels and hubcaps! I also have my eye on some neoprene wetsuit type material seat covers and some other odds and ends. This is my daily driver so I have to keep myself in check with all the cool stuff out there!!

I also love the following tat this little car has! I hope theres a NC G2G at somepoint...maybe even a trip to Deals Gap, NC or a meet at the beach!?!?

A little background, I worked as a car/motorcycle mechanic for 14 years...I worked on Honda, Acura, Mercedes-Benz ,Porsche,Suzuki motorcycles, Kawasaki,Aprilia, Moto-Guzzi and AH-61 Apache helicopters when I was in the NC National guard.

I hope to get some pics up here soon! You guys & gals have some awesome looking rides and I truly appericate you sharing your pics!!

Thanks!

Man you're fast. I saw the post on the ToD thread and came here. Welcome and definitely post some pics. Mine is also a daily driver and I have had mine for 1 year and 30K miles. I have done plenty on mine and have a lot more planned before ToD! Post pics as soon as you can because everyone will be asking for them.

Ill try to get some tomorrow.....me and my girl have been dealing with some medical issues, but I think Ill have time to snap off a few tomorrow and will be able to d/l them tomorrow evening.

Im anxious to meet some new friends, kick tires and tell lies (as we used to say in the MC world, I used to ride BMW's!)

Does anyone here live close enough to Herbies on Battleground Ave in Greensboro? Every Thurs night they have a G2G of all things bug related...from old vans, bugs, sand rails, ect...couldnt go last night, but Ill try to hit it up next week and check out the scene!

Here are a few pics as requested! I took a few with the BB camera so I apologize of there not the bestest in quality!

The antenna is my first mod. I orderd it this week and it was on my doorstep today when I got home!
I also got a Monster tape adapter for my streo so Im not limited to the radio.(hate dealing with CD chagers).

I think the main direction Im going to head in for my mods is braking and handling. I live about a hour away from one of the best road race tracks on the east coast, VIR (Viriginia Intl Raceway) and running to the Blue Ridge Moutians on the weekends when I had my bikes was one of my favorite things to do!

Thanks everyone for the complements!

Me and my girl are going to sit down and clay bar the whole car as soon as she can get out and about with her leg.

Ive decided to go the route of braking/suspension for my first mods. I already got a line on some stainless brake lines and a upper stress bars! Soooooo many mods, so little money!

Can't believe I missed this before! Hello to a fellow NB owner in NC! I'm in Raleigh so not too far from you I actually drive past Herbies going to my parents house. Great place. I've driven by on Thursday nights before...one day we'll have to get there.

The site is currently down but NCDubs.org is our local VW community. I know they have a G2G in Greensboro every week but I don't remember where. Its also a great site to find all the amazing local shops around.

Love the NB and enjoy your time here on the Org

Thanks for the welcomes!
Smileybug...if your going to be in the area hit me up and maybe we can g2g for a quick meet & greet and photo op....I live not far from Herbys (on the same road actually!

Mod update! I got a set of NEUSPEED stainless brakelines form a member here. Hope to have them on the next few weeks!

Next I think will be some slotted rotors or maybe some rubber floor mats? Who knows??

I also think Im going to take the spoiler off. Its mounting is loose, theres something rolling around INSIDE it, I took the trunk lid trim panel off and there was a nut that came out...I think it has something to do with the broken mount!? I also think I like the classic look of the rounded back without the spoiler, the lines are so clean! I can always add another later!

Welcome from a fellow new comer...
I bought my NB about 4 years ago. Looks like you found a great specimen with really low miles. Mines an 04 and I already have 125000 miles on it. Thank God it's a diesel with the distances I drive
You'll get the Mod fever like me. Mine all started with an EGR deletion...then to get rid of the CEL after that I figured...well maybe I should get the rocket chip install done so I can get rid of the light...then it was, man that made a big difference in performance...wonder what an CAI would do...then, well now I drive like a mad man...maybe I should make it handle better...
Now, if I do anything else to it, my wife will divorce me and probably take my car in the divorce and sell it for a dollar out of spite ...j/k on the last part
Welcome and enjoy...

Hey! My name is Chris and I'm current in Winston-Salem today, ripping a Subaru 2.2L Legacy Wagon apart for a Vanagon swap....

I have a 98 two tone TDI Beetle. I also live in Raleigh. Jess (smileybug) and I are friends, almost neighbors actually.

Welcome to the club! Greensboro has a NCdubs meet on Thursdays but with the forums down I don't know the details of that event.

Jess, Kimmie and myself have all been trying to get something NB related happening in Raleigh, if you're up for the trek in. Perhaps we could find a cool spot in between and meet -- Burlington perhaps?

What do you think?

Oh yeah...I got some mods to install.

NEUSPEED stainless brake lines
THULE VW factory roof rack for the bikes!
and some NEWBEETLE.ORG stickers! Hope to get them on here very soon!

The dealer also repaired (bought) a new R side headlamp lens after the one fell off (someone had glued it) and a new oil pan since some goober dinked with it and made the drain plug leak, Now shes nice a oil leak free, with the proper oil in her.

Im also looking at wheels and springs
