I'm the proud new owner of a 99 Beetle GLS... LOVE IT already! This is my first beetle, one slight issue.. On the way home not being used to the light brakes my foot slipped and I tapped into someone sitting at a stop light :-( Luckily no damage to the BEETLE but minor scratches to hers and I was thankful she said ehhh it was messed up already :-)
![]() ![]() ![]() Just glad to finally have my beetle and loving the disc changer too... I have a few minor flaws to fix but overall i'm in love.. ![]() |

The fender bender is the curse of the black vw. Both of mine have tapped other cars within mere months of owning them.
Silver is worse, that makes you a target. I have silver fenders and got rear ended within a month.

Welcome! I am interested in the questions regarding RPMs (mine's a stick, but on the freeway at 70 mph speed limit, it stays between 3500-4k as well. My Dad has said the engines are just idled high. I can't tell that it has caused any problems, anyway. But I am curious, too!
