Default howdy.

just figured i should check in here first.

i've got a 2001 NB TDI. have owned it for almost a year and a half now, and have yet to wash it. it replaced my dearly beloved 1990 Honda Civic Wagon DX, which finally expired after more than 330,000 miles. i expect to keep the Beetle as long; it has a mere 123k (i bought it with 98k).

i like cars; for a while i had three, but now i'm down to two. other than the NB, i've got a 1970 Jaguar 420G that's going back together as a street rod. i earn my paycheck as a mechanic in a shop that specializes in British cars. my current projects there include a complete colour change of a 1967 MGB GT (with new interior and A/C install) from Bermuda Blue to to Pale Primrose, a resto-mod of a 1951 Jaguar XK120 (late model 4.2 engine, disc brakes, etc.), and a full restoration of a Bentley S3 (which, for some reason, has been rebuilt into a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III at some point in its history).

i brew my own beer.

i volunteer with a couple local nonprofits. one is a bicycle co-op, and the other purchases and donates sculpture for public enjoyment.

my bicycle collection is worth more than my car collection.

i'm not sure how many computers i own. i quit counting at 30.

i retired from Sears at age 32. no, the retirement check wasn't enough to live on.

i'm still in college; i've spent 14 years total as a full-time undergraduate student. i have no degrees. theoretically, i'll be graduating this December with a BA in English. keep your fingers crossed.

cheers!

WOW!!!! Where do you find the time?

That must explain why the NB is never washed. Oh yeah, welcome to the org. And add another Carolinian to the list.

Gary, our unofficial spokeperson, will chime in later, to explain our upcoming events to you.

eh, i just can't be bothered to wash it. the last time i had a car that i washed regularly (2x a week, waxed on weekends), it was my '78 MGB. had around $1500 in paint on that car (in 1993!). rolled it at a little over 50 mph and (after flipping three times) didn't have much paint left. after that, i just didn't care. my Jaguars usually only get/got washed a couple times a year, and my old Civic hadn't been washed in at least five...
