1999 Beetle 2.0L newbie

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to say hi to you all. This is the first VW I've ever owned. I just bought a 1999 beetle 2.0L, auto. It's got 197,000 klms on it. It runs great but need brakes, so you all know what I'm in for. I do all of my own work so I might need some questions answered about the car. Anyway, I hope you all can give me a hand and maybe I can do the same some day.

Congrats on your bug.

Do you know when the last time the timing belt/water pump/tensioner/roller have been replaced? That's something of great importance as well.

Keep up posted on your beetles progress; and pics would be nice too

My beetle is a dark blue color that looks like purple in the sun light.

As for the timing belt.........not a clue when it was done last. Thanks for the heads up though.
