Default Noob here...

Whats up everybody.
my name is tom and i live in saginaw, mi usa.
I recently bought a 2000 beetle with a 2.0L (im not sure what trim level...)
Ive mostly been into the honda scene, but i got a good deal on my bug so im going to use it as my DD.

It needs some work, but im capable of repairing it... in the meantime, im interested in learning about my car. I want to try and find ways to mod it and wring some more hp out of it.

Ive mostly been into cars, trucks, bikes, and classics. Ive owned a customs shop in FL. And now km currently into auto detailing. ...im currently in the planning of opening a detail shop.

...thats it....end of story.

Welcome to the forum!

If you're planning to do your own maintenance/repair work, you really need to get a copy of the Bentley "Volkswagen New Beetle Maintenance Manual" (OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning it's pretty much "the bible" for DIY wrenching on your New Beetle.

Take a look around the forum; there are sub-sections for almost every engine and sub-system of the New Beetle, all of the sections are just full of useful guidance. If you can't find what you're looking for, just post a query. If any one can help, they'll respond.

The forum is pretty friendly! Enjoy!

Welcome to the org! If you are looking for opportunities to mod your bug, you are certainly in the right place. There are some absolutely amazing Beetles here on the site. Be sure to check out the Gallery for some pictures.

Welcome to the ORG

Newbie Welcome Kit!

The above link will get you started with a lot of interesting facts and items you will need to know about your beetle.

Do you have a Manual transmission or Automatic?

As far as modding it for HP, you got the wrong engine for that. The 1.8 Turbo would have been the more peppy and more modable engine. The 2.0l doesn't have many options in regards to upping the HP unless you maybe install a 50 or 60 HP Nitrous kit. But I wouldn't recommend it in a car that old.

Again, Welcome aboard and please don't be a stranger. Ask questions and post some pics of your ride!
