Hey everyone! My name is Jamie and I'm from Lakeland, FL but the military has me stationed in Shreveport, LA. I have been looking at the NB and I am considering purchasing one but I thought I'd join up here first and gather all the info I can.

i'm from Lake Alfred, but i got my bug at Lakeland Toyota.

definitely drive one if you haven't yet. that'll pretty much seal the deal. go for a turbo too. i'm happy with my 2.0, but had i known of and been able to try a turbo, i would probably have bought it.

Here, here!

Welcome, Jamie. You are definately in the right place. Yes, ask any questions, or peruse these forums. When you go in to talk to a salesperson, you can probably teach them a thing or two. Have fun!

Hi Jamie and Welcome to the Org! I agree with everyone else, as soon as you take the test drive, your mind will be made up. Driving an NB/NBC is not like driving any other vehicle, it's just FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

Let us know what color you decide on...we already know you are going to get one if you made it this far!

Welcome Jamie! Thank you for serving our country and fellow Americans, you should certainly consider a new Beetle. I have a 2002 GL, a no-frills go-getter that has 80,000 on the odo (purchased 4-04 with just over 9,000) with two check engine lights to date, the first was a $66 repair (cooling temp sensor) and the second was a misfire due to aging plugs. These are solid cars, and very very fun to drive. The community of VW enthusiasts is also worth hanging out in -- and from your photo thread it seems your no stranger to the auto scene

Take care!
