Hi guys! I'm new to NewBeetle and I'm also not a Beetle owner! I'm thinking of becoming one though.
I've got an opportunity to buy a 2004, 55,000 miles, sun roof, very well maintained. Close friends, asking $5,000. Knowing nothing about Beetles, I took to the Internet. People have not been kind to the beetle! I've been told to beware: transmission at 60k miles, valves at 80k, and electrical at 100k. It's pretty scary! However, my GF loves Beetles, and she deserves nice things. I figure this is a good place fore advice! Good/Bad anything helps! Thanks!! |

One must also remember that those who have negative experiences with a specific make of car appear to stand out more because those who have no problems don't bother to post comments. My 2000 GLS Beetle has 84,000 miles and an automatic and runs perfectly.
