Smile 2010 new owner

Just got the new beetle last week, in the shop now for trunk latch and leaky tire (ordered parts).Just wondering if we should look for other things. Supposed to get an owners manual, too. Happy so far - two days driving. Wife likes the spoiler look Any suggestions? It's a white 2.5L coupe With auto trans and basic trim and such. Orig. factory spoiler only. It's not a Silverado or muscle car, but I do like it. Thanks for any and all help, Wayne - Has 30K miles ( the NB, not me, I got a lot more than that !!

Newbie Welcome Kit!

Welcome to the ORG. 2010 was the last year the New Beetle was made. They skipped a year in anticipation at the release of the 2012 Beetle in late 2011.
The 2.5 is a good motor. It has a timing chain which never needs to be replaced unlike the other New Beetle's with different engines that have a timing belt.

Post pictures if you get a chance. We Orgers like to see fellow Beetle's and their owners.
Have a great day!

Default spoiler

Went to dealer to check on NB. Maybe get tomorrow. Checked on spoiler there - $350.00 + $84 install. Do the wing king spoilers hold up good? crack, warp, paint peel?
Key - $230.00. We got one flip remote and one regular with the car. Wife driving a Kia rio loaner. Really not a bad little car, but NB more comfy and peppy. May get to try NB in snow Thurs.(if we get it back) Thanks for the help and input.

I don't know how the Wing King Spoiler will hold up. Never heard of them but they run $99 online for the color matched spoiler. So if you are paying $350 for it you are being ripped off. Also you can find remotes for your beetle on Ebay for about 35-40 bucks. The key part itself is a bit more tricky since the dealer has to program it to the ECU.

Default Got R back

Got the NB back yest. Sure is a world of diff. in it and that Kia. Got an owners manual (new) on the way. Tell all new VW owners, you can buy new manual(VW Literature Portal) $75- cheaper than on Ebay. Dealer getting a flip key for us, that saved a bunch. Will pic asap. Most NB owners call it "her", I can't tell the gender of ours....how do you find out? Have a great day!

Pics are a must. We want to see that new spoiler.
Your NB will tell you after driving it a while. The name and gender will come after some miles.

Default "it"s a girl"

Wife has already tagged it a female. Says she doesn't like to be hot-rodded. Can I add a turbo or blower and make it a guy?? Wife likes NB without spoiler now, glad I didn't put one on... when she liked them????? Don't have pix yet, but tried uploading pic of wife and me in our Lazyboy.

WOW, you guys are tiny like Umpa Lumpas Hmm, maybe I should invest in larger furniture. That way I wouldn't look so big. Who needs Weight Watchers.

Very true. With my 265lbs and my larger than life physique I am not planning on expanding any time soon And I have no trouble fitting into my Beetle. It is actually the first car where I don't have trouble with headroom.

Talking Ice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible night in Ohio last night. Had to get wife, caught behind wreck on solid ice. NB was doing OK...she wasn't. Hates ice and snow. Had to leave NB at a Wendys (know owner and told managers). Go get it this morning. Took 1 1/2 hrs to clear multi car wreck. 4wd Silverado had things under control. Wife said NB doing good, but didn't want to take the chance of bruising - her! Ice hit a large area....hope everyone else got home safe. Have a good day!

Eek! Sounds like you had some terrible weather. We are having thunderstorms, which is unusual for us in January. Stay safe!

Default 1/4 inch of ice

Ended with about 1/4 inch of ice. 3 hours to go 14 miles - most was wife behind wreck on highway and me sitting at BP waiting(drinking coffee). Go get the bug and hit the breakfast bar shortly. Manager at Wendys (where we left it last night) said she'd give it a good home, if we didn't pick it up! LOL Pic is of truck this AM - can see thickness of ice around windshield. Which way to the beach??
