Default what the heck is it...

Brand new TDI guy......2001 nb manual.

What the heck is the 3 position lever in the engine compartment just under and aft of the battery box.

Possibly the headlight release lever.

Thank you for the reply......... That is not it though. The lever arm Im curious of is actually on the transmission casing...I cant help but think this is something related to the clutch mechanism. I SOOOO need a owners/service manual. Its on the way.

I think he's asking about the shifter linkage on top of the tranny.

Or it could be the lock mechanism that you engage to lock the trans when doing a linkage adjustment.
