Hi guts I'm new here. I have a few questions, I have a 99 2.0 5spd and the radiator fans don't work. I was wondering if I could use one from another VW or will a beetle only fit?

Do the fans come on when the AC runs? If not there are fuses (large metal) under the plastic cover on the battery. I've rarely seen the fans go bad, it usualy fuses, relay, or temp switch.
Where in SC are you? |

I'd check eBay and look for the whole fan assembly. Not sure about the compatability accross to a Jetta or whatever. I have a friend here with a NB who went through a DEEP puddle and killed her fans, we bought a used one online and she's good to go now.

I had one of my fans die, but N4 is right, not super common for them to fail.
Did you try to turn the AC on and see if the fans go?

Welcome to the org, from the upstate. N4 was asking what part of SC you're from, since it's not listed in your header, like mine. This info helps other local members, to help send you where there might something local for you.
Now for the fan. You need a 3 wire fans. There is a complete assemblies on eBay for $100. The NB fans are one application only. Jetta, GTI, TT all use the same. You can use spray lube the bushings on the fan motor and it will most likely free up, until you get it replaced. Good luck.
