Default hello from Florida

Thanks must be extended as I have been reading posts here for a couple of months and finally decided to join because I have found information that has helped me in the process of restoring my 200o New Beetle GLS 2.0L. I am the first owner and sadly have not been able to keep up with all the car's needs but mow can afford to reverse this. I am well on the way and research here almost daily in my quest to build a better beetle. I love my car and I'm thankful for all the informative posts. Have a great day. I'll post some pictures soon to show progress.

Unhappy

Thanks for all the good vibes everyone. Here's a little about my beloved NB. It's a Yellow 2000 GLS 2.0 w/ sunroof. 182,000 miles one owner. Me I bought it new from Aristocratic Volkswagen in Sanford, FL. Sadly the last couple of years have been hard financially and my beetle has been largely ignored until recently. I'll post some pictures (soon as I read up on how to do that) I am in the process of replacing the suspension. New Bilstien shocks and struts, ball joints, control arm bushing, energy suspension rear axle and sway arm bushing going in tomorrow then new wheels and tires and an alignment. Once that's all done it'll be time to work on the engine, a few mods there, get a body kit and paint, finally rework the interior with leather. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but I do love my car and enjoy learning about it. I think I car probably get another 200,000 miles out of it. I live out by Oviedo in the little town know as Chuluota. Yellow beetle with a broke antenna and big black gash in the rear bumper cover thanks to my buddies wife.http://newbeetle.org/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif

Welcome fellow Floridian

Looking forward to the photo journal of your beetle. We're all about making our beetles our own- weather it be bone stock, works in progress or modified, we love our bugs and those who own them

The Orlando orgers are very active here on the org and in the Orlando/Florida beetle scene- they travel very well. I hope that you'll become part of all that we do. BTW, we're heading up to the Carolina mountains in May for the Tail of the Dragon (ToD) cruise/weekend- you should join us. See the link for ToD in my signature.

Thanks sacarb,

I saw a few posts about TOD. Looks like fun and the timing may be right. I have a few thing to get fixed on the flair buggie before I make a trip like that but I am close. I like the camping idea but will have to talk to my girl and see if she's up for that... Where in O town are you? Pictures coming soon.

Doug

Sweet!
I hope things work out for you and your g/f to make ToD. You'll be glad that you did!

I'm in Jacksonville, but like the Orlando crew, us Jacksonville peeps travel well As far as the hard-core Orlando orgers are concerned, the neighbors you have are:
Shonnel- EvilinaDM101
David- VDubYah
Irina- Oh Snap
Chris- 03bluemandm
Jason- Severe

Shonnel and David frequent our Jacksonville GtG's, namely our monthly B4B- Bugs for Breakfast. Jason travels between Tampa, Orlando and Jax. The majority of the O-Dub crew will be going to ToD. I really hope things work that you'll be joining us as well

So the ToD looks like a blast. I will talk to my sweetle tonight after work. BTW I've been doing a huge amount of long overdue work to das flairbuggie. Here's the short story... Replaced the struts, shocks, mounts, bump stops, tie rod ends, timing belt, and have new ball joints, sway arm bushings, control arm bushings, and rear axle bushings going into tonight. Then time for new wheels and tires. What that;s not all I tuned up the motor new plugs, wires, filter, oil change, gear oil changed, oil filter, but it was still running rough and giving me a p1128 code. So I cleaning the MAF. Still getting code. Then I replace about four vacuum hoses. Presto! Like magic she's running like new. I also cleaned up the inside of the hood and the cowling while I had it apart. Oh yeah I also replaced the struts in the the hood and hatchback as well as fixing the loose solenoid. Went out yesterday and now the windows, sunroof and door locks are out. Time for more homework on the org. She's driving like new and soon all the other little challenges will be overcome too. What a good feeling. I'll be onto my list of mods soon as all else is in order.. I can't wait. If you're looking for my in O town my rear drivers side bumper has a big back gash and my buggie is yellow. This site is awesome. Thanks for all the great posts.

Dougie Flair

Shonnel I like coffee but I am rather busy making my bug love me again. :} I've neglected her too long and now I'm making up. Soon thought things are going well and quick.

May I suggest going for coffee just the same. One thing about us FL bugophiles... we GtG and show of our beetles, regardless of their condition. From bone stock, to works in progress; to junk yard rescues, to highly modified.... we just love seeing all beetles and the people who love them

Thanks Scarab. I'm sure that will happen. The thing is if I'm not working you're pretty sure to win money if you bet that I'm working on DAS Flair Buggie. At the moment I'm trying to figure out why my windows, door locks, interior lights, and sunroof all went out the other morning. The engine is running great though and the ride is much improved after putting Bilstein shocks and struts on her. Haven't the the bushing done yet because the windows got in the way. We can have coffee soon though I won't quite until I get those windows working like new. OK back to searching the org or oracle as I call it for a clue.

Hey Flair! I'm in the hood too! I'm over by Lake Underhill, so we should definitely have a local meet up and our cars can look fabulous together!

Sounds like fun maybe we should all talk about a Central Florida meet. I anyone has some pointers on my current prob I'm all ears. Trying to get my windows, sunroof, mirrors and interior lights working again. They all went out together and I've searched the org all over and can't find out where exactly the fuse on the relay panel is located that may be the problem. Also the rear lid opens when I turn on the lights. Crazy.
