Default Hello from Seattle!

Hey guys and gals, My name is Chance and I just purchased my silver 99 New Beetle GLS 2.0L 5-speed about a week and a half ago. A few things that got me into this car were that I wanted one a few years ago and when I test drove it I fell in love with it. On the better side of things, when i purchased it, it only had one previous owner and 86,830 miles on it. I also have a stack of service receipts from the previous owner, the dealer cut out all the previous owners information so I could have the receipts, and a pretty extensive carfax to go with the service records. Now I'm not a small guy by any means, 6'1" to 6'3" and 305lbs, But man this thing has got plenty of room for me (I feel bad for whoever has to sit behind me). I really Just love this thing. I have plans for it. I just ordered a Euroswitch, and a new hood lift support for it. Pics will follow.

Welcome aboard. Your gonna love this place. Nice looking bug ya got there. And low mileage. Ought to get many years of driving smiles out of it. Have ya named it yet. If not, dont worry. It will tell you it's name in time. In the service history, check and make sure the timing belt and water pump have been replaced.
You are under the mileage that they call to change it, but the overall age of the belt calls for it to be done. If it breaks it can wipe out most off the motor and sometimes the whole thing.
Not tryin to scare ya, just givin ya a heads up,if ya dont know about these engines.
Dont worry about resizing the pics. In my old age the bigger the better.

Welcome to the Org, and Welcome to the New Beetle!

My, now ex, husband was about your weight, and 6'4", when he discovered he could not only fit in, but be comfortable, in a New Beetle, in early 2002. Got my first of five then, my 2002 Turbo S.

Life has not been the same since.

I hope you can join us for a PNW GTG when we have one!
