Hi everyone, title says it all. I've wanted a Bug forever and a day, and tomorrow I pick up my first, a gray 2002 Turbo S in almost showroom condition. Needless to say i'm pretty stoked about it. If anyone here has a Turbo S and wants to offer up any conventional wisdom ar advice that would be great.

Thanks all,
Chef

I've got one of them. Mine is an '04 but it's close My only advise is have fun! The Turbo S is a fun machine. Post pictures as soon as you can. Can't wait to see it.

I see you are from Alabama. I found Gandalf in Tuscaloosa and brought him home to Oklahoma.

Six your Bug is identical to the one I am buying I plan on lowering it a bit but not outright slamming it, and converting all the interior lights to led's like I have in my truck, my Mustang and Jeep. I'm not going to change anything right away, though - i'm just going to enjoy driving it for a while until I figure out exactly what i want to do or not do to it.

Default Finally :)

Well the wait is finally over. The day I was supposed to pick the Bug up I had a family emergency and was out of town for a few days. I finally got back and picked the Bug up yesterday, and I must say I love it already. It has some age related issues I am going to start working on, but overall it's an awesome little car. There are a few interior items I need to replace and clean up, like the grab handle on the driver's side door has come off at the bottom and I need to find a new one, and the factory Monsoon speakers have definitely had better days. I'm looking forward to working on the ol' gal. I'll give her a name when she makes it clear what her name should be.

Oh yeah, the maintenance has been spot on. The timing belt & water pump were replaced at 100,000. That's actually one reason I bought the car. I will put up better/more pics as time permits. Unfortunately I have this work habit that's pretty hard to break. It does have pinstriping and small gold colored VW emblems just above the side led lights. I am planning on adding a color matched factory spoiler. The heated leather seats are awesome! It's going to be in the low 20's tomorrow am and I plan on making full use of them. I have already ordered a new set of Continentals and I will eventually put led's in the corner, brake lights & turn signals. I have recently completed a full led conversion on the Ranger sitting next to it in the picture and it turned out very good and didn't cost that much.

And i'm also looking forward to becoming an active member of the VW community I think Beetles attract good people.

She's beautiful. You are gonna smile every time you drive her, or think of her. I love my New Beetle, even though she's getting older, and has quirks. It only makes her more unique. I really really miss my Turbo S's....you are so lucky!

Nice Beetle. Good turbo beetles are hard to find. I've been looking for a S , but finding one in decent condition around Okla. is nearly impossible. Happy motoring. Btw we call the Turbo S the Vette of the Beetles
