Default Hi from CT!!

Just got my first Beetle in December! This has been my dream car since I was little. My great aunt had one of the first Beetles in the country. She and my uncle had to fly to NY and then drive their Beetle back home to TX. When I was 11, my oldest brother worked as a salesman at a local VW dealer, and one afternoon he brought a brand new (1998) Beetle home to take me for a ride! Life-changing!! Since then, whenever I saw a Beetle I'd call it my car. I have always kept little Matchbox Beetle cars in my old car. When I wrecked my Saturn the day before Thanksgiving in 2011, it was time for a new ride...

I got a 2000 NB GLS 5speed 2.0L, Silver Metallic with 58K mi. It's been a glorious car... EXCEPT it's never had the CEL off for more than a few days. I have had lots of issues, but am so excited to be learning about my Bug. That said, can anyone recommend a mechanic in CT? I am in the Valley. Anyone else around the area with a Beetle? I'm so excited to be a part of the Beetle Club, it is literally a dream come true. (minus the nightmare of repairs)

Welcome to the Org, and Welcome to the New Beetle!

I had to wait until 2002 to get my first one. I won't complain anymore!

There are lots of Beetle people in your neck of the woods, but don't be afraid to post in the 2.0 forum any questions you may have. Good luck!

I am happy that you got your New Beetle. I also have been waiting for many years to get one. I got it in September of 2011. Mine is a 1999 VW 2.0L GLS and it is in near perfect condition. I am very proud of it and gave it a name. I call it "Rudy" short for Rudolf a good German Name. I actually visited the VW World HQ in Wolfsburg, Germany and toured their factory. That convinced me! Oh one more thing, about the car problems. That is to be expected. I am a mechanic so the first thing I did was replace the Drivebelt and the Mass Air Flow sensor (They have a lot of problems with those). Perhaps I can help you with some things? Anyway, don't be down about the problems. You have one of the finest engineered cars in the world! That's is enough. Happy Driving.

welcome to the org!! : D

I remember back when I was a kid too...I fell in love with the Beetles in mexico (who woulda known the factory was in mexico!), and ever since then I had to have one. Took a while too--I got mine in 2011 as well!

I live in north east CT and I'm n the hunt for a new Beetle. I hope to find one soon. Got $3000 to $4000 to spend. Any help finding one would be appreciated. I'm going to look at a few this weekend.
