Smile Hello From East TN

Hi - I am the proud owner of a 2001 VW Beetle. I bought it 2 weeks ago and it is being shipped from Philadelphia - I will be picking it up on Monday. I can't wait. I've had other VW's and I think I'm the most excited about getting this car.

Myself, an at least one other Raleigh NC are bug, will be at Bugapaluza on the 23rd! You should definetly come out and show off your ride! We have the same type of spoiler -- but you have a sunroof!

Hey, freaky, wait till you see what changes Charlie has undergone in a year!

Default NB is home

Well I picked up Libby Monday at the terminal in Knoxville, TN and it was love at first site. BUT, I've not gotten to drive her too much after then because suddenly I came down with a nasty stomach virus. I did manage to stumble out today and washed her real good. Monday evening, I did head to Circuit City and get them to install the Roady - we did the vent thing for now - I'm just glad to get the XM activated - I'm spoiled and was lost without it. Anyway, she has a few tiny nicks that some VW touchup will take care of - other than that - she handles like a dream. The tires are like new and they definitely cleaned her inside and out. I think I made out pretty good - so now I'm going to definitely go on eBay or wherever and get some mudflaps and probably mudguard mats.

I know the feeling, man. I was so pumped when I picked up our Beetle and drove it home. Luckily, it was a ten-hour drive, because I don't think I could have just come home and gone about life as if there wasn't something wonderful in the driveway, begging me to go for a ride!

We lived in Knoxvl in the late '80s and early '90s and I remember some wonderful drives through the Smokies - I sure wish we'd had a Beetle and a sunroof. It would have been even better.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I guess I really did get a "bug" - ha ha. Finally got over it and went back to work - the best part was driving my NB - I have a 55 minute drive. She handles like a dream. I LOVE IT. But, I don't know if "Libby" is the name yet. My husband (a German - ha ha) is trying to suggest different authentic names. We'll see - I want it to reflect her personality but don't want her to go nameless too long.

Talking Accessories

Ok - I'm curious about accessories. I am in the process of ordering Monster Mats and splash guards - which I had both on the jetta. I'll also be ordering side window wind deflectors. Here's my question - what are the suggestions on getting a wind deflector for the sunroof? Also, has anyone had their splash guards painted to match the car? Also noticed that they now have fender guards (I think that is what they are called). Anyone have those? And, last, but not least - has anyone gotten the handle guards? Do you like them? AND, if you have gotten them, did you get black or clear? Thanks.............................Oh yeah, one more thing I have the cd changer from my jetta - will this work with the NB and do you just install it in the back with a bracket? I promise - that's all of the questions for the day.........

Recently I traded in my 2003 Sunflower NB for my NBC - I had the windguard for the sunroof - it helped quite a bit on the wind noise. I also had the fender guards and they looked really sharp. An Org member here made me rubber panels for the sides and it looked really good with the guards. I also had the door handle guards in black - as I had the whole yellow/black theme going on, I thought it all looked good. I left my mudflaps black...

I think it would all look very good on your NB, too - the contrast would be sharp. POST PICS!
