Hello from SW Florida

I have been reading different items on this forum for quite a while now, but only signed up today. I bought LadyBug (2001 GL) used in 2003, and have had a few items that need repair. Luckily, my husband is quite a good mechanic, but he always likes to start with lots of information first (or as he says, "why re-invent the wheel?". So a huge thank you to all the wonderful bug owners who have posted very helpful photos and diagrams. We couldn't have done our brakes without them! Thank you thank you.
I will be posting separately under repairs, todays's job which was our temporary repair solution for the broken hood latch, and also a link to another site I found when we needed to replace the mirror adjustment/heater switch. Also I think we will have a post in the commercial section, my husband sells decals (mostly on eBay).
Love my bug in spite of little glitches here and there. Our next project is fixing/replacing headliner (a common problem with all cars in Florida) and those nasty peeling door panels. I am totally inspired by some of the great custom jobs I have seen on this site!

Yeah i'm the first to say Hey. Welcome to the family. So glad you joined us. I love the passion you have for your bug. Yep, in spite of the little glitches and hiccups our bugs go through, we still love em. I love your signature; good for you. Unfortunately, my wife is no mechanic, so I have to do the monkey wrench/ratchet stuff myself. Anyhoo, please post often. Don't be a stranger here. You're always welcome- pull up a chair and tell us all about it

I appreciate the welcome, I already knew us bug people were awesome, this proves it. Did I mention I learned to drive in a bug? My mom had a '69 SuperBeetle 5 speed. Actually I learned in my dad's 66 Mustang (automatic), my mom taught me to drive a stick in hers. She had it custom painted a beautiful metal flake aqua color. At the end, it had 250,000+ miles! (And many many many visits to her favorite mechanic). Our joke was it was held together with bubble gum and (literally, in the case of the floorboards) fiberglass! But my NB is way better (air conditioning, no battery under back seat causing fires).
