I can ride English and Western (aka: hang on!)

My mom recently got a horse that she boards at a farm, I'll go up there occasionally and ride him around. Horses are such cool animals, to be able to ride something so big and muscular and trust each other...I dunno. It's pretty cool.

I am originally from Maryland. Both of my horses were born in Maryland and I kept them in Davidsonville, in Anne Arundel County. I miss the horse aspects of Maryland, California is not as nice, IMO. we have some decent facilities and the weather is perfect but the grass and land is not as plentiful.

I shipped my horses out here with me when I moved here in 2007.

Oh nice! My mom's horse is near Frederick. She's in Silver Spring and I'm in Baltimore, so it's a nice hike for the both of us. What kind of horses do you have? I can't remember exactly what Fame is, but he's light brown with a white stripe on his nose. He is gaited, so he rides very smoothly

I have a TB mare, named Bugs, who is 23 years old and retired. I also have an Anglo Trakehner gelding, named Frodo, who is her son, he is 6. He is a dressage horse.

It sounds like your mom's horse might be a Tennessee Walker, Rocky Mountain or Paso Fino.

I remember she wanted a Rocky Mountain, but I honestly can't remember if that's what he is. Here's a pic of me and him:

I rode English (hunter/jumper) and Western (gaming and trail) up into college. I have not ridden in years ( too heavy and way out of shape now) and after about 10 yrs without horses could not stand it any longer so now we have minis. They are like potato chips, you can't have just one! (we now have 6)

You must post some pics!

It is hard to tell what breed your mom's horse is Gina. He's cute though!

You can see them here on my website. ( as well as all the other four legged kids) I need to update the photos of my two year olds, Just waiting to get my clipper blades back so they can have the beauty treatment before their photoshoot.

Love your boy BTW. Always had a soft spot for the Warmbloods. A friend has Irish Draughts.

My aunt has Arabians in Colorado. When I go out there we do a lot of trail riding up in the mountains and such. I usually ride Western and occasionally I end up on an Aussie saddle.

My aunt has been riding almost her entire life. She was big with dressage competitions and also rode sidesaddle in some performing groups. She is so amazing with horses.

URE, Ohhh, I love your IGs as well! I adopted a greyhound back in 2002 and he has been awesome. I love anything greyhound shaped, in any size with any length of coat.

My young horse, Frodo is my pride and joy. My job has made my life a little difficult and I do not get to ride as often as I would like but normally I ride 5 days a week.

Peapod, my retired mare is boarded at a barn owned by a lady who has arabs and used to breed them. She has about 14. It was funny because when my warmblood was there, he was a GIANT compared to the other horses there. He is not quite 16.3h. At the barn where is now, he is not the shortest guy, but certainly not the tallest either. LOL

I love all the sighthounds as well. I vow one day to own a saluki but not while I have the little dogs. We do rescue as well and over the years I have had several breeds come thru. They are all different in temperments but they are all beautiful to look at. (my house is full of greyhound artwork and figurines)

I wish I could ride more often. I go out to ride about once a year and at first it is so scary! By the time I'm comfortable doing a canter or gallop its time for me to go home!

Grew up with a chunky little buckskin called Jolyon. Pop rode dressage and taught both me and the horse. Later rode again as a student in Lebanon, Arabians, all of them stallions. Sometimes made for wild times. Since then, haven't ridden for years. Too old, too fat, too poor. One or two of those factors could be overcome, but not all three.

But I miss horses. I have a particular love for small, well-rounded horses, such as Morgans, Arabians and Morabs, and belong to one Morgan discussion group on the web.

I'm from the Bronx, but the wife is from Western KY where they still ride horses into town to go to Arbys. Funny thing, I never rode before I visited her family in 2005, they have a horse farm, and within a day, I'm told I was riding like I'd been doing it my whole life.

Also, someone mentioned IGs. We bought our smaller dog from Marchwind IGs in Cordele, Georgia. The breeder also breeds horses. I wrote an op ed about it, I'll look for it one of these days. Anyway, this is me on Big Country.
