Talking Froggy's craftings

I do all kinds of things, mostly very sporadically. I used to bead, and create origami. I like to sew. I haven't really used any real patterns yet, unless you count a sort of Halloween costume once.

Right now, I'm just getting used to having a dedicated space to actually do my crafting in, its really nice. Currently it is still a mess from the aftermath of my last project- new clothes for Jackjack.

Now, for people like me who might think some people go too far when it comes to pets and clothing, let me explain why my dog is dressed. He has an allergy to something which makes him destructively itchy. I could go out and fork over lots of money for medicines which might not work or if they do, hurt his insides over time- or I can clothe him. I found out clothes are a perfectly suitable way to keep him from destroying his backside chewing and scratching. The first suits looked like junk and were just desperate attempts to keep my dog from chewing long enough to heal, and then gradually they've gotten better made, more durable, and not so stupid-looking.
There's the history for that...

So, this thread will be for posting my creations, whatever they may end up being.

I spent some of my winter break sewing a vest that I plan to wear instead of my uniform shirts for work, since a laundromat mishap landed most of them with melted orange crayon on them. They were super large anyway. Here it is, all done, and boy did I learn a lot about patterns and fitting and not to make it so nice and pretty until you are sure it's going to fit how you need it to, because then its easier to rip apart!

Cute puppy clothes!! My mom is big on sewing. I've never really gotten into it other than fixing a few things now and again!! I do however make lots of sewn bracelets!! You wrote that you've beaded. What things have you been into? I'm an art teacher so I try lots of various mediums and crafts. I'm always keeping myself as busy as possible. I also have a dog, a dachshund. He enjoys wearing clothes more than my husband would like him to! I think he thinks of them like blankets more than anything. He's big into being under blankets!! Post some more pictures of things you've made!! I'd be interested in seeing them!! I'll have to put together an album of some beading I've done on my profile page!!

A couch cover that I finally finished over Spring Break. I had run out of thread due to sewing and finishing all interior edges so that the fabric won't fray when its removed and thrown into a washing machine: a must for us with dogs. This was my first experience with having to match a pattern, as well as installing zippers. I think I did really well! My only complaint is that I can see the middle back riding up as the boys flop onto the couch- so my plan to get the spiral pins to keep the cover in place and reduce the sag from top poof to vertical back panel seems like it would be good for that also. This was my most costly project as upholstery fabric from Jo-Ann's was about a hundred dollars, but we used a coupon to drop it to $60. Next time I'll just use plain (cheaper!) cloth, as before now we had just covered the couch with sheets and they work fine.

P.S. I lost my vest!! I'm very sad because I also had a pocket dragon in, well, the pocket.
