Default Front License Plate Bracket

In one of my many smooth moves, I tossed my front license plate bracket because I would never in hell use the thing. This was just prior to moving to Montana where a front plate is required. Some time back I came across a thread regarding this very same subject. I can't locate it now. Does anyone know where the bracket that attaches to the tow-hook mount can be bought? Actually, I'd be interested in any type of bracket just to keep the state happy.

If your bumper has holes already, you can get the necessary "box" to attach up front for like $5 from the dealership.

Otherwise get a plate mate! I wish there was one for the Scion. My husband got pulled over once for not having a plate on it.. a few tie wraps corrected that

Ohio requires a front plate. I took mine off and smoothed the bumper instead :-) I'll gladly pay the fine, officer!

I moved form AZ (no front plate required) to Cal(required) Fortunately I had kept the bracket but the dealer wanted some outrageous amount to put it on. Found someone else to do it. I wish I had known about plate mate then...it ruins the look of the car to have the bracket/plate on!!!!!

The plate mate is very good if you want to show off your NB with out holes in the front bumper since it just screws in to your front tow hook all you have to do is have it painted to match or you can just spray paint it black its all up to you. I just got one for my wife because she kept getting pulled over here in TX so untill the plate mate got here we just used small suction cups with the hooks on them to suction it to the top of the front windshield.
ALSO if you know a good decal shop you can have them make you a sticker that is the same size and looks just like your plate and place it on your bumper.
Good luck

I live in Texas and I just got pulled over for not having a front plate. There are no holes in my bumper. Did the Beetle not come with one or in some states did it not come with one? Is this "Plate Mate" the best way to go? I don't mind putting holes in the bumper if it is cheaper.

Agreed! Front plates just ruin the look of the car! I hate them! I always get pulled over when I go to LAX because I don't have one. Best parts of personalized plates is that you can just say it was stolen because someone wanted it more than you did! I swear it works! HEHE!!

Mine did not come with predrilled holes either even thought it was bought in California.

JuggBug's going in the shop tomorrow to have it taken off I bought Bef's old plate mate and will keep it in my trunk in case I get pulled over.

Now don't tell the popo this, but my criminal mind is already planning on telling them that I took it to the car wash and just forgot to put it back on....

One would think that they(popo's) would ask "why haven't you reported your license plate stolen?"

FWIW, since I finally broke down and ordered one a couple
weeks ago, there is currently/still a PlateMate for sale
in the site's classifieds.
