Default dull paint got you down?

Well, this past weekend while i was out at my parents house in pensacola, i decided i would wash and wax black betty. Experement with some new goodies i bought with auto zone. I picked up some "Polishing compound" and some "turtle wax ice", and after washing, polishing, buffing, waxing, and more buffing, black bettys paint looks almost showroom finish. I was so excited! Just figured i would tell you guys ^_^

I have used the Maguires Claybar and Zymol wax. Don't like polishing clearcoat that much. I am sure a claybar would do a lot on a black car .... my silver didn't look too different, but certainly felt different.

Ive clay barred my car before and it didnt turn out looking as good. I used Turtle wax polishing compound.

Polishing compound doesnt scratch the clear coat of the carm its RUBBING compound that does. Polishing compound buffs it...

FYI about clay bar: the clay bar won't necessarily make the car look better, but it will sure as heck make it feel better. It gets the contaminants off the car, it's not supposed to shine it up.

Yes .... Before you claybar you wash with Dawn .. an estringent (SP) that removes the wax ... and after claybar you have to put 2 or more coats of wax on to get it shining, and it Feels smooth as glass afterwards, takes a lot more rubbing with polish to get it to the same smoothness. The claybar removes wax also.

Clay bar is used to remove components from your cars paint that is from exposure to weather, where as polishing compound BUFFS dull clear coat. Comparing the two isn't logical, because theyre not very similar at all....
