I'm Throwing These Doors Out!!!! Finally!!!
Hi Everyone, I'm still new to the boards and wanted to gets some advice on a project I'm going to start. I have a 98 Deep Blue originally silver with 90,000. I'm not the original owner and I'm still cleaning up after these people. I've had the luvbug for almost 2 years and repaired her quite a bit but my biggest project is the interior. I have no idea what these people did, I have burn marks in the backseats as well as gum, nasty stains. I should be getting the car upholstered soon; as well as my headliner which is starting to come undone. But my main thing right now is my door panels, they have been beat to bloody hell. This poor car.
I managed to score a door panel for a total of 30 bucks, this guy turns out to take forever to ship, practically a month and later gives me an extra door for the whole waiting game.!YaY! Of course the top panels don't match at all, I figured I'd just paint them, it looks a little difficult to take the top panels off and switch them.
I'm assuming its just rivets but I'm not sure I want to do it. As you can see, one is vinyl and the other is leather. I really like the leather look with the black, so I want to keep it that way and paint the other door panel the same. Should I re-paint the black on the passenger door,no visible scuffs, compared to my dead panels that are literally falling apart. Is it going to look weird since one door is leather and the other vinyl, tacky??? Thanks just trying to show my progress with my car.
Pictures
Also a picture of the luvbug, she's resting in the garage
All the circles, are holes, cracks, or just plain falling apart within the door panels.
