Removing the front plate bracket

My Beetle came with the black front plate bracket attached, it was originally purchased by its first owner in CA, where front plates are required.

Is there away to remove it without damage, holes or scars or will I need to save my pennies to get a new bumper/paint/installation?

I did a search on here and came across info on the Plate Mate, which I will keep handy just in case we ever do end up somewhere where I'll need a front plate. On a good note at least the bracket on the Beetles isnt as horrible as some other cars' brackets.

Well heck. Guess I'll just save my pennies then. I am gonna get personal plates for it soon, AZ gives you 2 plates for those, so maybe I'll put one on the front. Or I could get a novelty plate that says MOVE OVER in backwards lettering
