Default Door Panels

So -

Yes. I am new. Don't be mean. I really need some help.

I need new door panels for my 2000 Beetle. The leather trim is falling off of mine and there are cracks all in the plastic. They are just gross.

Anyone know where I can get these? Anyone know what they cost at the dealership?

Cool

Very interesting screen name. Welcome. Call a VW or European salvage yards and tell them EXACTLY what you need. They can find it for you...

SALVAGE YARDS!!!

You could also fix them yourself (if you're crafty) by removing the door panel, and re-upholstering the door panel..about the cracks in the plastic, that would be some bondo and paint...but if you go to a dealership they will charge you out the @$$

I recently replaced the passengers panel in my '99. The leather was falling off, and the door handle was broken. I tried to fix it myself first, but it was just too far gone.

I ordered a new lower door panel from 1stvwparts.com. I've used them several times and they are great. I think the panel was about $220- cloth would have been cheaper, I think. I did have to have the painted top panel of the door attached to the new piece at my local body shop. I don't know if that is something that a handier person than me could've done... I just know I couldn't have done it myself.

Maybe that'll help you know what you're in for if you buy new. Also, be aware that they don't include the door handle cover with the new panel- it's separate. Good luck!

Porschetrimr needs to post this thread here on the org. I checked it out and i'm very impressed. He needs to do a how to on how to remove the top color-keyed section of the door panel. That is too awesome.

I would say that I know that you can paint and upholster. so you dont have to really worry about matching the top color panel. so I would check out your local junkyards. they can be your best friend

Yeah He does have a W.I.P thread here. But it would be great if he did a step by step How-to thread.

From the posts that PorscheTrimr posts here, He seems to be an all right dude.

Hmm... So basically arm and a leg. Well I guess I could check out the junk yards. I am just always scared of those places... I've had bad experiences.

I have a set of silver/grey door panels and I am local to you. Let me know if they would work for you. If needed I have 2 sets of stock interiors, just needs to be cleaned as they are sitting in storage.

You can buy the whole panel and not just in pieces but the top usually will be either black or primer they are about $250 each for leather I know because I just spent the last 2 weeks looking for them for my 2000 1.8t for the same reasons. I was lucky to find a pair on e-bay for $169 for the pair, not new but in much better shape than my crap.
