Default side skirt question -

it appears that my side skirts seem to be peeling, upon close inspection it appears to be a "tape" like material and not paint..... i was wondering if anyone has ever tried to re-tape or replace the " tape" ???

It's probably that infernal protective film
I had some on the junction of back fenders and rocker panels. Gathered dirt under the edge, so had them removed while other work was done on Ladybug. Do you have a little square of the same stuff under the hood release?

ill have to check, after looking at it again last night its not paint, you can see the demarkation line between the paint and the strip that covers the bottom of the skirt

I'm one of the few people on here who will know what you're talking about. Mine did that, it was so nasty.

What had happened is the fender had rubbed a hole in the protective film, which let moisture to get in under the film and eventually once the fender wore though the paint it started to rust.

I had it repaired at a bodyshop for $300, no problems to this day.

Fortunately mine were removed before rust set in, it was just at the dirt and grit stage before being removed and the whole part repainted
