Sure is unique. I see a lot of classic bugs in the same kind of finish.

Alone it looks a bit odd but if you go for a classic look (chrome accents, Oldschool steelies, whitewall tires, roof rack, etc) it'll look awesome.

I was actually planning on getting these wheels, tinting the windows and calling it a day (at least in terms of exterior mods, for now), but I'll take your idea under consideration.

*loooooove* the paint job!!!!

That looks really awesome

BUT. I have to say, the TSW rims that you pointed to .... eeeeh. Not a fan.

But that's just my opinion

Tinted windows , yup, that'd look awesome. I kind of wonder though, what a nice, slick, black rim would look like!

Maybe like these....

You took the words right out of my mouth. The paint job won't be of any justice unless you go old school with it. I'm not a roofrack man myself, but it is part of the motif.

Now maybe the wheels you get and other mods you do might prove me wrong, i don't know. But IMHO semi-gloss cries out for old school.

And tell me what PaintShop/PhotoShop technique did you use for that effect? I have a photo of a cabby that I want to do that to. Thanks

How would you feel if I had them powder-coated black?

LOL! The technique is called "tell the paint shop guy to paint it semi-gloss black." That's real, not a photochop!

Hm.. I've just never been a fan of wheels that stick out further than the car does. If you look at them from the front of the car, they stick out further than everything else. I.E. Begging to be curbed.

And, they are just kind of... I dunno. Not sexxy (for me anyway).

If you like them that's good enough for me!

And, if you had them done in matching powder-coated black... they would certainly look better than they grey that they are now!

Then you could call the car "Midnyt" or "Shadow" *heh*.

Yah.... that'd be ok I think

P.S. You need clear corners too man......

Don't they look nice on the all-black Beetle? *heh*

Yeah, I don't like that aspect of them either -- they look much better when looking at the car from the side. I would like to have wheels like these even better, but they may or may not come in the right size, have Acura center caps, and would cost a lot more than those TSW ones (and when I say I want vwgary's wheels, I mean literally that I want to buy his -- I'm waiting for him to get himself new ones).

Yeah I do! Of course, then I'd really need to find some clear tail lights (that lit up red, of course), like that Lexus SUV has.

...WHAT?!?!?! That is too awesome!!!! It looks great. You have definately got to keep posting, especially pics of the progress of your beetle. This will be one of the most unique beetles that has come along in a while.

Default Love Semi Gloss Butttt

I like the the idea of those rims but lower the NB a couple inches and get larger rims prefer the black rims look great. Get the chrome liners and it will look amazing. Also throw in that dark tint. No roof rack, you want stream line.

With the potholes around here, I'm already scared enough of ripping off the oil pan as it is!

If my girlfriend and I do, it won't be for a long time: we've only had it about a year now.

Looks great, except for the pale pink flowers. Need another yellow rose instead, or a dark-red one.
