Unhappy '06 Gecko Green........

Fooie..what a disappointment. I was all anxious for the new shade of green to come out becasue everyone was saying that it is awesome....well I beg to differ....blah is all I can conger up for now. The '05 Cyber Green was awesome! tThe Gecko Green is a "sleeper"...and I mean that as in "Y-A-W-N!"

Saw the color during the day and then again at night under the dealership lights. Doesn't appeal to me at all. Guess I'll be leaning towards either the Platinum or the Salsa Red. The latter is an awesome color and I've seen that one live recently.

No Gecko Green for me. I envy all you Cyber Green people.

Jerry

Oh, I like it. It's a little muted, with silvery, minty tones, and I think it's gorgeous. You need to buy used if you want Cyber Green, a cool color, but several years old, and time for retirement. Please reconsider.

I LOVE being envied.

Buy used, I bought mine, and it's like getting a brand new car, the dealer really does the car up well. Everything is cleaned, lots of new parts installed, etc.

Certified used is a great program.

As for the Gecko Green, I'm not really likinng it much either.

Check this thread out for comparison pics: Gecko Green

SMG, I rarily buy used. Did so with a '78 CJ-5 Jeep a while back and vowed I'd never do that again AND it WAS off a dealer's lot!

My NB will be brand spankin' new whenever I get it. That Gecko Green just doesn't trip my trigger. Guess I'll just have to admire the Cyber Green NBs I see on the road.

Have to give that Platinum a really good look over once again as well as the Salsa Red.

dnyed....I've come to the conclusion that the Gecko Green would be more fitting on a Plymouth Volare, four door sedan with white walls.

From pictures I like the looks of Gecko Green. I'll have to see it in person though. Either way, it will be a nice substitute for us who shall abandon our great color that is Cyber Green

Default Gecko is Gorgeous

As an owner of a brand new Gecko Green Beetle I can remain silent no longer! It is anything but a boring (yawn) color. And a Volare would be LUCKY to wear my Beetle's classy coat. Much as I loved Cyber Green, Gecko is more subtle--it doesn't shout, "Notice Me, I'm Neon!" Instead, it sings a kinder, gentler song, "It is easy being Green!"

While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, please, please don't insult Apple (my Gecko Green sweetie) any longer--she's gorgeous!

Cool

Ok I am a bit confused. I have a 2001 CyberGreen NB and my car is not faded in the least bit. I can tell I haven't been on this website in a while because I had no idea there was a Gecko Green up until now. It is a pretty color. I LOVE green! My last car was green. My birthstone is Peridot! When I saw the CyberGreen for the first time I was in LOVE! But I must say I really like the Gecko Green alot.

I think Gecko green is a gorgeous color. To be honest I have liked all the greens, my favorite being Isotope green.

I like both colors. Different reasons.

Cyber Green is a bit wilder & brighter.
Gecko Green is more ... sophisticated. More calm and relaxed.

The Gecko green seems too mellow for a Beetle. My wife was thrilled about the cyber green color when we ordered our beetle. She wanted the ‘LOOK AT ME’ color, but then she has happy face stickers all over her office. I appreciated the bright cyber green for its safety. Living in Alaska where over 50% of the vehicles are FULL size trucks or SUV’s a small car needs to be noticeable. I still won’t drive the car after a snowfall. I wait 4 days to a week for the roads to become safer. My other car is a bright blue lifted Ford ranger with custom steel bumpers and 33” tires.

I’m not saying I don’t like the new color but I think it would be better suited on a Volvo, Saab, or Lexus. It’s doesn’t carry the Beetle spirit. Beetle’s should have fun, inspiring, vibrant colors.

That's my color opinion and I'm sticking too it.(or a least untill some one gives me a free gecko green beetle.)

I really like both greens, actually.
I own a Cyber Green... so it will remain top on my list... but I hardly think Gecko Green is a boring color.

And for the record, my Cyber Green hasn't faded either. If any paint on a modern car is fading, it means it hasn't been maintained well; either the clearcoat didn't have the proper UV rating, or it wasn't kept up. I fully expect my Kermit's paint to look close to as bright and full-bodied as it was when I bought him.

I can only imagine Des saw an Isotope NB

But... heck... nothing's stopping you from buying whatever NB you like and having it repainted any color you want.
