Question Trunk not working right

I've seen beetles where the trunk opens all the way when you hit the remote. How can I get mine to do that?

2002 NB GLS Chipped, K&N, High Flo Cat, etc.

I've never seen a NB hatch work this way, and I've been around / driven several over the years.

Your trunk is working normally.

Due to the weight, it seems highly unlikely to actually get it to pop. Now, I am able to do this on my Golf however I have modified the struts and it also weighs a bit less. Could always try exhaust springs at the end of the strut to see if that can help it pop (but likely will not open fully - just a few inches if that).
