Default Aquarius Blue?

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the site and I joined this forum because a. I am obsesed with the VW new beetles, and have been since I was young and b. I have a question I cannot seem to uncover the answer to easily!

I recently lost my dream color bug, a luna green one named Princes Daisy [may she R.I.P], and am now being promised one of those pretty sky blue ones. I believe the color is called aquarius blue, correct me if I’m wrong.

I told my mother that this color is relatively new and only comes in convertible style and she said I was wrong. I have never seen the light blue in anything but a convertible and cannot find one that is older than 2005. I don’t want my mom to go chasing after some car that is newer and more expensive than her current car [she has an ’01 passat. We’re a VW family ].

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much.

You are correct, it is Aquarius Blue and is only on the verts (at least in the US).It was also one of three colors initially offered when the verts were introduced on January 17th 03. The other two were Sunset Orange and Harvest Moon. We picked up ours on the 1st day of release. Actually the 1st vert purchased from our local dealer.

Ah such a pretty car!

Okay so I was right on everything except the ’05 thing.

Yeah I don’t really want a convertible, I’m worried I’ll leave the top down or something since I’m a forgetful person and I don’t need my insurance to go up anymore than it already has.

Thank you very much!!

Oh really? The only other blues I have seen are the blue metallic and that dark, almost black blue.

This is Techno Blue [Blue Lagoon is very similar]

This is Vertex Blue

Those were two lighter blue hues on the 98-05s. Bw is offering Heaven Blue on the 09s, but its almost too much silver and not enough blue

I'm lovin that signature btw!!

The vortex blue is really rare, but they are out there. I saw one yesterday and there a few for sale in ATL.

There were also color concept NBs, but they are even rarer(is that a word?) to find. Here is a pic of it.

Wow! I love that vertex blue, it’s so unique looking! I am definitely going to keep my eye out for those colors now.

Honestly that’s part of my obession with these cars, they can be in all colors of the rainbow and pull it off flawlessly.

Yeah I heard about the heaven blue, but that just looks silver to me and I’ve never been a fan of the silver.

Thanks!

Interesting. There's so many color options for the beetle, it's really neat!

That is a Satellite NB. Has cloth blue seats and the blue inserts on the wheels. :P It is the same color as the audi wagon.

My Zoomer is the Color Concept.

Vapor is a cool color too. I don't see many of them around, but they were a limited edition blue. There happens to be one for sale south of Ocala, FL.

Here's Zookie's former vapor blue nB.

Al goes to find a pic.

Vapor Blue is a rare color. I think it was an 01 turbo only offer, and ONLY an internet purchase from VWoA initialy. We had a dentist friend in NH that was one of the 1st to place an internet order from Grappone VW in Concord NH. Very subtle cool color

Btw, loving the color concept cars, they’re so cool!!

I too remember seeing the VW commercials for the vapor nB's which as VWGary stated was an internet-only available color. The vapor was a color that I actually liked, and still do. At the time i wasn't money-ready to purchase a nB, so I knew these would pass me by. I need to go to YouTube and see if they have that commercial.....
FOUND IT.... here it is CLICK HERE.

Well CJ it depends on how bad you have the nB fever. Some might make the roadie to pick up that bad boy in Dade/Broward County. While i'm in Ocala (central FL) tomorrow, i'll see if my route takes me by that vapor nB and i'll take a pic and see how much they're asking for it. For my second nB, my color choice is Salsa Red, but i do have a thing for the vapor.

So was Princess Daisy cyber or luna?? Just curious since you said cyber in one thread and luna in this one. I'm sure your next Beetle will find you soon. You'll know when it's 'the one'. I named my car Daisy, too - some people think it's a weird name for a car that's not yellow, but she told me that it's Daisy and I wasn't going to argue with her!!

I believe Princess Daisy was luna green since it was sorta lighter. The cyber green has a more metallic-y look, right? I’m not naïve enough to think they’re all the same green, I just don’t know how to tell them apart.

Her name actually came from a friend of mine. I was trying to think of a stripper name like Savannah or Candy, and my friend thought of Princess Daisy since I have a mild obsession with the Mario Party games and he said the car seemed like it would be ‘a hippie’. Then all the daisy accessories that I ended up finding for the beetle just made the name really stick.
