Default bumper damaged, how to repair?

Hello! I had a question for ya'll here on the forums I am new but thought I might start asking my questions!

First off this is Ellie, my new 2001 GLX turbo 1.8L buggie woot! anyways, the previous owner apparently had a thing for hitting poles at the supermarket and thats how poor Ellie got this ding... I was wondering can you repair the rubber bumper with fiberglass and resin or how would you repair these? If not who would you recommend to get a new bumper through? an OEM or aftermarket item... and would they line up okay with the car?

If i got a bumper I was thinking of maybe something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-F...ht_3697wt_1167

does anyone have any expereince with that particular one?

I'm looking to do this in the possible near future (if i can fiberglass/resin it i'll be doing it like, asap lol) if I have to replace the whole bumper....

lol, well I'm on a budget for one, and two that would be EXPENSIVE to ship out here...

plus the only part that is damaged is the bumper right above the license plate... everything else looks fine... thats why i wanted to know if it was easier to repair the one bump rather than have to replace the whole thing.

Her silver color is like NEW. the last owners kept her garaged for her entire life totally made me happy because she looks NIIICCCEEEE

I'd check with a body shop, they can repair the plastic. They can also see what a new bumper cover costs. it will probably need painting too.

Very cheap ways of doing it would be:

Sand it down, so it's not raised at any point, then get some vinyl the exact same color as your bumper. You can get this from a sign making shop. Apply the vinyl (same stuff as decals) over the top. Once waxed a few times you'll never notice it

Or.. Do what i do with my rear scratches from mis-judging bumpers in multi-storey car parks, just add a decal or two or four

Alternatively if your going to do it the right way. It will need to be plastic welded. I can get it done here for approx £25. You being in the land of custom garages i'd of thought a little hunting and you'd be able to match that price but in Dollars

Buying a new bumper, plus the respray and fitting would run into a small fortune

The body shop heated up and repaired my bump recently - but it was stress fractures and not a rip in the bumper.

I would suggest getting a new bumper. Probably less than $100. But the cost is going to be the removal and installation of the new bumper plus painting/colormatching.

Hi,
If you accidentally run or bump into something. However the day you take it to get repaired could be an even worse day.But the fact that they may be out of a vehicle for days or weeks.Finding an honest mechanic can be a challenge as well.

I would have thought a new bumper would be the cheapest option for your Volkswagen repair questions. You can get it sprayed and fit it yourself if you wanted to save some money.
