Thumbs up Fixing surprises

In a nine year old car ?





When you pull a panel and find a broken tab or bracket what do you do ?







Throw it away and buy a new one ( That can get expensive ) or repair the one you have







This is what i do......







The panel after all the gook has been removed .

This is the little bracket thats being repaired.





plastic welding works well if you know your plastic the panels in most cars is ABS so you have to use the right type to make it work.


these are the tools i use for the repair.





You start by melting the brake and make a little V grove at the joint to place the filler for the weld.





This is the filler rod.





After the tab is welded in file the weld down to smooth it out.






and just like new...

The corner of this bracket was broken ....





fitted the broken piece....





And the welding ...











After filing time for paint ...
