Default Paint, touch up and additions

Looking to paint a part of my dash, and possibly my speaker covers Tornado Red (2000). I have the touch up kit from VW that I got due to a few rock chips.
Is there a place to buy spray cans of this?

For the plastic interior pieces it's easier to use the Krylon plastic paint. Unless i'm wrong. i didn't think VW sold touch up paint for the interior of the CC's.

I've done pieces of my interior with a few different paints and the Krylon has worked the best, as long as you give it time to cure before messing with it a lot.

No, the touch up paint was for the OUTSIDE

I guess I'll try and color match Krylon to my car color then!

I have a uni red NB and I use Rustoleum Sunrise Red. It is a tad darker than my car but unless you put the piece I painted RIGHT up against the stock paint, you could never tell. If I'm not mistaken, Tornado red and Salsa red are pretty much the same?? If so, I think the Sunrise Red might be a super close match for what you wanna do. Only downfall is this red seems to take longer to cure (dry) than most others. I would give it 8 or so hours before you do anything with it after you spray.

Yes- tornado and salsa are the same. I like rustoleum over any other spray. I used the black on my wipers (they were chipping, faded, and slightly developing surface rust.

I'll look into it this weekend

Plastic is an unstable material and I don't recommend the usual type sprays. Make sure that the paint you get is made for plastic surfaces. Krylon makes a specific paint for plastic and the red matches great. I have a little stepping stool in my car that my daughter uses to climb into her car seat and neon green just didn't cut. So I sprayed it red and it looks great. Just make sure that you wait at least 10 days to let whatever you spray fully cure. Don't park your car in a hot or humid place or it will take even longer.

Just my two bits...

Thank you, this helps a lot, considering I'm doing it in the next week or two.

Neon green won't cut it- I don't blame her!

I used the rustoleum on my speedo pod and my engine cover with no problems. Just make sure that with whatever paint you use to also use a good adhesion promoter. I can't remember the brand of the one I used (I use it with everything) it will make paint stick to plastic, aluminum, basically all the problematic materials to paint over. Most of all, your biggest friend, or enemy, is how well you prep the area to be painted.

I don't think the touch up paint you got will do it, you need the spray paint if you want it to look half way decent. I have painted the arm rest on my other car with OEM body paint from TouchUpPaintOnline.com and it looks pretty good. I wish it wasn't as shiny though, but I guess body paint is supposed to be shiny. A dull color paint might look nicer for the interior

I will also say to use a paint designed for plastics, like Krylon. If you go to an auto parts store, its easy to find. We used the black (I think it was Krylon but I dont' remember...it just said it was designed for automotive plastics) on the bumpers of our Mk1 Jetta. Did that a year ago and it still looks great. The paint will be able to bend with the plastic and hold up a lot better for much longer.

Yeah, my Advance Auto has a whole aisle dedicated to it.
