Unhappy HELP!!! Diesel Fuel on Paint!!!!

I'm not sure if anyone can help me, I might need to go over to TDIClub.com but I figured I would try here first. A while back I was filling up my car(2002 New Beetle TDI), as i remove the nozzle, fuel every where! I take paper towels and clean it up off of my car. I thought I did a good job getting it off and forgot about it. Well little did I know that it was NOT off and is now ruining my paint. I now have a faded fender around the gas door. Is there anything I can use to get the fender looking somewhat okay again. I'm sure it needs to be painted and I have been wanting a paint job for a while now, it's just not in the budget at the moment. I just need some ideas to get the fender maybe not so noticable faded looking????

Thanks ahead for the ideas!!!

Diesel is not a strong solvent to fade or discolor your paint. Are you sure is not a "film" of fuel residue? Try rubbing it with nu-finish. It should be ok

Yes agree with what J.Acre says. Wash thoroughly with soap and water, I am sure it'll come back to life.

I agree. If you wiped most of it up you should be ok. I would give it a really good wash and maybe consider having someone buff it and wax it. I have had diesel fuel run down my front bumper MANY times and sometimes have only rinsed it off. Has yet to cause an issue. Might have just eaten through some wax layers. Let is know how it goes.
