Question Somebody please tell me what color this is...

My girlfriend and I were driving down the street a few days ago and she saw this colored beetle and immediately said "I want that color beetle." I have been online and looked and looked and all I can find is a picture of one. Someone please tell me what color this is and what year so I can hopefully find one for the better half. Thanks!!

Question

Well, it's displayed on an '06 or newer vehicle, in this case. That we know, now to look at color chips...

I think it's too light for the Laser Blue, Paint Code LC5J

And definately too dark for the Heaven Blue, Paint Code LP5X

Leaves just the "Urban Legend" 2010 Tossau Blau, Paint Code LA5R - Lot's of scuttlebutt and hype, but can not find pics ANYWHERE! Maybe a trip to the Dealer for you, is in order!

Tossau Blau, owner claims. Maybe.

2010 Tossau Blue would be my guess.

I wonder where the 2.5L striping came from.

This color is really close to a Lilac Purple more than a blue. I have seen 2 of them on the road before so it has to be an actual VW color. I searched the internet for over an hour last week and couldn't find anything. I am sure it's limited edition. The one I saw was a hardtop also, so it must come in both convertible and hardtop models.

Here is a link to another one without the striping.

The one in that link is an earlier NB, before '05. I think its a custom color. I've never seen a purple color like that offered by VW. Its possible I guess, but I bet that its been custom painted by an owner.

Regrading the OPers post, the "mod" badging on the side says 2.5L, if it is, it's later than '05.

Also, it's not purple on my computer, I'm seeing blue, and no, I'm not color blind, and my computer displays actual colors pretty accurately.

Looks very much purple to me. And certainly not close to any blue I've ever seen offered by VW. And I was referring to the one posted in the link in the previous post to mine, which is earlier than '06. Not the one in the OP, which is obviously an '06+.

The only hint I can find is if you type in "Purple Haze" beetle into Google images. I have no idea if that is the name of it or not.

If it is a custom color I would be surprised because I have seen 2 of them in person in 2 different cities and a few different ones online.

It must be a custom job. It's purple (not a VW purple) and it has fog lights. Modded, for sure.

I agree on it being an aftermarket color. Looks almost like Vortex Blue ... which would explain you seeing it on a hard top.

I bet it was a Vortex Blue Beetle, it was dusk outside and that could very well be mistaken for the light purple color. Thanks!!

Are you saying the fog lights are mods?

Looks purple-ish to me. I vote aftermarket too.

Default The color "purple" is "foggy" and leaves me "light" headed. :-)...

To Opelmania and SixChuter...I'm not certain what color the NBC is, however it is NOT an after market color. I've seen a couple bugs of that same color up here in North East Wisconsin. Regarding the fog lights, this kit IS available at ESC as a kit for a mere $308.00. Kit includes everything except installation fee.

I didn't say it was an aftermarket color. I still think it is Tossau Blue which, I think, is a 2010 factory color. And I also thought the fogs were an option available on the 2010.

Vw dropped the option to add them. They just added it to some special edtion cars.

BUT, they are incredibly easy to install! Just installed some on my friend's Vw Golf last weekend. Its plug (Run Wires from A-B) and play!
