Default Grabber green!!

Ok so I am slowly but surely working on modifications for my Sluggy. So far pertaining to paint; I have painted the engine cover. (Oh and I know I should have cleaned my engine but I was so excited!) Next are my manifolds (silver), wheels (white), and my calipers (grabber green). So hope you like it! Tell me what you think. Oh, she is Cyber green but I love the grabber green on her! More pictures to come but I can't really work on her in this snowy/cold weather!

Hiya Versa! Um well I used regular engine enamel and the guy at the store told me it chips off of plastic right away and I told him nahhh I will try it out. So I wet sanded it like crazy it went from black to white and then I used 3 coats of adhesion promoter, 6 coats of grabber green by Rust-Oleum, and 3 coats of clear. It has been 3 days and so far nothing. In great condition. VERY SHINNY! ME LIKEY SHINNY!

NO WAY! How did you paint your dipstick? I would ask about the timing belt BUT the process of getting to my timing belt discourages me

P.S. Where is your avatar from? I can't put my finger on it.

WAY!!!

Your dipstick tube should pull right off. If you're leary about doing that (they can get brittle due to age) just grab one at the dealership for about 10 bucks- and just paint away.

The timing belt cover is removed by the 2 metal clips on the top of it. After the clips are removed you just have to jostle it up and out of it's area. clean it up real good and paint away. I recommend using something like Simple Green, followed by some denatured alcohol, then you should be fine for paint.

And my avatar comes from the world of the Powerpuff Girls cartoon. The avatar is "Spore", Buttercup's favorite comic book character and alter-ego. It's kinda fitting, since Cup, my bug, is a girl with a lot of fight and attitude

Yep, PPG was one of my last favorite cartoons. came on the scene about the time I was looking into a beetle.

Cartoons aren't what they used to be, but that's another thread for another time i guess
