Default does the NB have different windshields?

OK so i'm working on my project NB and when i got it the windshield was broken so i'm footing the bill. I'm fine with that and all. So i contact a buddy who does this type of work and ask him to quote me a price on getting it fixed. He comes back telling me there are 2 different body styles of New Beetle and was curious which i have. Are there actually different styles or is he getting messed up?

btw if there are different styles mine is a 2000 tdi.

thanks

Did he ask your year? I would only think maybe the windshield changed in 06 with the redesign.

Either that or maybe the convertibles have a slightly different windshield?

Someone else can probably answer this better, I'm just guessing.

no he didn't ask me the year just new body style or old body style which was suprising i didn't think there were any differences.

now this is the crazy part. his cost on an old body style window was $75, new style $200. Honestly the only thing i can think of is that he was getting prices for old school beetles and not a new beetle, the biggest problem with that are the old beetles had different styles as well. but i'm still curious if anyone knows an actual answer.

thanks

There was a body style change in '06. Those windshields could very well be different than the '98-'05 body style.

Thumbs up Here you go!

There were many windshield redesigns over the years with the Aircooleds, so I doubt he was looking at them.

Here is the correct answer.

The hatchback and convertible are different. The vert has an integrated radio antenna, which would account for the significant difference, and would resolve the question as to model, with no mention or need for year. There may also be a slight difference in size and contour as everything to do with the windshield surround is different, as are the door and rear side glass.

There were body changes in '06, but as the convertible tops are all the same. I would assume those changes did not affect windshield design.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for confirming what I was pretty damn sure of, but you sure used an awful lot of words to do so. One of your longer posts!

So what happened to your avatar? I miss it!

so there are 2 different style windshields all the same, the convertible one with a radio antenna in it and the regular model w/o the antenna is what you are saying correct?

Yes, that's correct.

Two model's of NBs. Hatchback and Convertible, which is what your buddy was asking! The contour of the windshields may be different, but no matter. You have which ever one you have, and need which ever one you need.
