Question 2004 Turbo S paint code???

I went to order some touch-up paint @ my local dealer last week but walked out confused.

I have the sticker that was in the hatch (identical to the sticker on the spare) and the VIN matches up properly but the paint code (LA7W 71) can't be correct. They tell me it's just plain old reflex silver, but I don't buy it. The "Type" category says "GLX" (and Eng. code says AWP) but my ownership and even insurance company categorizes it as "BTS". The bug came direct from VW (of Tulsa formerly Brad Noe VW) off-lease, so it's not like somebody made a GLX into a TS lol. Did VW make a mistake?

I previously owned a 2000 GLX and that was also "reflex silver": However if you put the two bugs side by side (we actually did occasionally) you could clearly see the S was a different shade with more white in the paint and lighter as a result.

Any ideas???

I thought the colors for TS were the same as the regular beetles including reflex silver. That's the color I am after with platinum gray as my second choice.

Uni-red
Reflex silver
Platinum gray
Black

That's what I have been able to find out while researching.

I beleive they all (TS) say GLX. The colors for the TS are the same colors for regular beetles. Not sure why the 2 beetles with the same paint code would be different colors unless one got repainted....or extremely faded. Reflex silver glx, same color as reflex silver TS. I own red so kinda unfamiliar with the difference between reflex silver and silver arrow? I've heard them both but didn't know if they were 2 terms for the same color, or 2 seperate colors all together?

Thanks for the replies guys. Silver arrow was a precursor to reflex silver apparently on the earlier 98-01 NB's.

Touch up paint codes for VW

It's interesting though that the paint-codes above are different than mine still lol

Thumbs up

Yep, DT nailed it. No Reflex Silver prior to 2002

(Interesting the black and red aren't clearcoated. Black for depth and red for fade protection. Paint costs more so I guess its just a way to maintain a more uniform paint cost per vehicle. Typical VW! Industrially and commercially red is always clearcoated because of fading issues.)

From what I can tell all TS's and Sports are concidered to be a GLX. VW didn't do anything special on the VIN. So you can't really tell if you have a TS or GLX by the VIN.
