Default HiLiter's Headliner

For HiLiter I choose an all cotton fabric; which is like a bed sheet. And I still wanted to have the padded feel, so this project turned into a two step process; foam then fabric.

The foam was easier than the fabric as 100% cotton does not stretch and in tight corners causes wrinkles, which cannot always be worked out.

I used my own Headliner DIY Thread for reference while doing this project and I have updated it to show how to remove the Overhead Storage, Clock/Mirror, Rear Seat Lighting, Sun Glasses Storage and the Grab Handle. I also got a surprise regarding the sun visor wiring.

The pics below show the headliner foam after having glued it to the headliner shell. To be honest it is not foam alone, it is actual headliner material, so I could have just left it as is. But that would have been to boring and the tan does not go well with two tone interior.

I will post the finished pics after TOD so I do not spoil the surprise!

Ok the new headliner is in and although the color and pattern matches well with color of the NB I did not like that the fabric did not stretch or shrink, so I have some wrinkles and trimmed material ... I will have to learn how to taper/plete when using this kind of fabric.

The installation of the foam was easy, all to easy, but I found out that you need to stretch the foam and then glue it into the corners and crevices; then when it shrinks back, it fills in.

This thing looks killer. You may have to see it in person to get the feel for it, but on this Isotope green NB with the colored seat inserts it is off the chain. It's bright, funky, and cool as hell to look at. As I was going thru my wife and I's T.o.D pics, I found 3 pics I took and 2 she took of this one off headliner.

I'm all for Bright Funky and Cool

Have to be with my old interior

Had that headliner gone into any other colored interior. It wouldn't have worked. But with that Green it hit's the spot nicely Was a great suprise at the end of the post to see it worked out so well

That. Is....

AWESOME!

I would love to customize my headliner as well, but I have a sunroof and it makes me scared about playing with it.

Really good job, it looks so fun!!

This is the most awesome headliner I have ever seen (ToD 2011). You just got to see it to see how well it fits the car. The photo just does not show the vividness of the colors. Perfect match for HiLighter.

Wow, so cool. The colours in the new headliner really pick up the colour in the seats! Great job!!!!
