Default Lower Grille/Spoiler Running Changes ('98-'00 vs. '01-'05)

It seems that non-fog Beetles use the same spoiler/lower grille and there is only one non-Turbo S bumper cover for all trims. So, since I have a 2000 & 20002 GLS, both with fogs, can I just use the earlier style on the 2002 and be done with it? Or do I actually need to hunt down the later ('01-'05) assembly for '02? It sure looks like as I can just order two early assemblies and that they all slide into the same hole. The only hitch I can think of is if they changed the fog light mounting brackets somehow in the '01-'05.

The earlier thread I found on the forum from 2010 only seems to deal with '98 to '00 models.

I've found replacements for the front grille with fog lamps listed as for the '98-'00 and '01-'05...but the bumper covers these go in only have one part for *all* '98-'05 Beetles. And the non-fog lamp replacement grilles are the same for all '98-'05 Beetles.

I'm trying to figure out what exactly is different between the earlier '98-'00 fog lamp grilles and later '01-'05 fog lamp grilles and if I can just order all the early style parts and use those instead of the later parts in my 2002 Beetle (it would save me a ton of money to do that).

Thanks for the pics but they don't really help since I'm trying to figure what's up with the OEM stuff and why there's a model year split at '01...

Thank you!!!

That was exactly what I needed...according to that, all the P/N are the same for the 2000 and 2002...going to order one set of early parts and test fit on both cars first (just to be safe, after all not everything on the internet is true ) but it looks like I can just get all the same parts and be done.
