Hi,
Searched forums, didn't find the info. I'm looking for. Short version of long story: family was returning home from wedding in Las Cruses and smacked into a thrown re-tread (you know the big tire shreds that 18-wheelers leave all over the roadway!) at night on I25. Now my '03 NB TDI is home and front bumper/fenders are off. Besides damage already obvious (e.g. radiator damaged and leaked), I've found there is a radiator support part, apparently made of fiberglass or similar, that is heavily damaged and looks to need to be replaced. Here's where I need the help: what is that part called? Part number or ??? Also, can anybody help out with a source for getting such a part! thanks much!! Todd P.S. long-time forum reader, I love these forums, but don't contribute much 'cuz I've not done much to my Beetle. I love driving it, tell one of my students who is a Miata fan that my NM is "the most fun on 4 wheels at 45 mpg!". |

http://www.wagenstad.com/ Once you have the part number, Google the p/n for sources (simply enter the part number). Many on here, including myself can provide you with a list of online VW Parts Dealers and Resellers. Always verify the part needed with a source that can cross reference it to your VIN. Also, very possible there has been suspension/steering damage. This should fall under your comprehensive portion of your auto insurance even if you don't have collison coverage, and this could get very expensive. MORAV

Hey MORAV,
Thanks for the quick help. I **think** the part I need is 1c0 805 594 called a "lock carrier with mounting for radiator". Might you or someone else know if this part is fiberglass-like material? Reason I'm asking is that I've found that part number from only a couple of places and none of them have a picture besides what you referred me to on wagenstad.com. If you or others have good places for getting parts I'd very much appreciate it! Most of what I found on google search for the specific part number are in Germany or Russia.... Thanks again! Todd |

Hi,
Well, have car back together (mostly), but now come to find that the thermometer that gives outside temperature is not reading/working. Have searched around, have yet to find 1) where is the outside temperature sender actually located? 2) how's it wired into the car? Any reference info. folks can give would be very useful! Thanks! Hi Todd! I can't help you with the thermostat but I'd like to invite you to the Bug-In at Bandimere Speedway this Sunday! Where are you located? The show and race is in Morrison, CO. Good luck with getting your NB back together.

On my 2000 1.8T it is located behind the mesh grill just to the left of the left foglight. I can't imagine it would be located differently on a diesel or by model year but what do I know. I'll take a picture and post it when I get a chance
