When your headlights are in the ON position, just pull back on the headlight switch itself. You'll feel the click.
Congratulations on your new acquisition!

THANK YOU! I just tried it,and laughed my ____ off! I can't believe it was that simple, now if I could only figure out why the radiator sensors go off for no reason I will be one happy Beetle owner.

Great!
When I got mine I had to ask someone, too...

Try this:
Put your key in the lock on the driver's side door and turn it fully toward the hood and hold it a few seconds. If they weren't already down, your windows will all go down, and your sunroof will open, assuming you have one. Turn the key toward the rear of the car and they'll close.
I always enjoy showing Beetle owners this in person.

Actually,I get a fair amount of kidding for driving a yellow bug,but when they get in for a ride most people are shocked at the room, ect. THANK YOU Newbeetle.org for helping me solve my flashing red light. We have taken it in several times, and told there is not enough coolant, too much coolant, flushed and universal put in,ect. Today I went to a dealership and bought G12 as recommended here,to the line, recommended here, and VOILA,no flashing red light!. Thank you, thank you,THANK YOU!!!
