Default Hey! Who Dented My Beetle???

Ernie has a new dent on his trunk lid, just below the VW trunk emblem. It isn't bad, but I have no idea who or how it was done. It got me to thinking, has anyone ever found a dent or scratch in their baby and had no clue where it came from? I'll take a pic of it and post it a little later, i'm on an ice pack today. I think I can get it out with one of my my "dent pullers" If you don't have one, I highly recommend getting one, especially if you have no idea where the dent/scratch came from.

Once I had a big dent and chip in the paint down to the metal. I have no idea how long it was there until I went to open the hood one day. No idea where it came from although I just assumed it was from a rock on the Autobahn.

Yeah! Not on my NB but on my '65 Squareback. I was parked in front of an office building at Hollywood and Vine Streets one day. Went up to the the 7th floor to see my friend. When I came out, I see this dent about 6 inches long by about 2 inches wide. I'm scratching my head, because the dent is on the passenger side of the car on the front fender. It is facing the sidewalk near a parking meter. Huh? How could that dent have gotten there? No one could have tapped me with their car. Not even a chip of paint missing. I use a company called Dent Mechanix. Boy are they good! If you have no paint missing, they use little tools and go behind the dent and massage it out. When finished, you can't tell it was ever dented. There are many companies who do Paintless Dent Removal. The are highly skilled guys and I highly recommend them.

I have the same type of dent on Gayle's trunklid. Mine came from me trying to close it when it doesn't like to latch. It is usually in the colder months when it doesn't like to close. Might not have been anyone that dented Ernie. A dent puller should help. I need to try one on my guy.

I don't know. I have made such an issue with Carolyn and my grandkids about slamming the turnk, or the doors. I tried to explain that when the windows are down, you don't have to slam the doors so hard. My stock answer is "Hey, save me a little bit of door please!!!" I think my 11 year old twin grandsons do it to get a rise out of old Poppy. I am very very cautious with my car, but, I suppose it could of been someone slamming the trunk lid down. I think I will try the dent puller on it. I have one called "Pops a Dent" It has a glue gun and glue sticks on it, you heat up the glue, take the plastic head and put it in the hot glue, hold it for several seconds, plastic head has a threaded bolt sticking out, and the other piece is in the shape of a "handle" thread the bolt through the handle and tighten down until the dent either pops out, or at least part of it does. Someone at PepBoys backed into Ernie and dented him a bit back in late 2009. I got a check, and pulled the dent most of the way out. I think i will try it on the trunk too.

Don't feel bad Joel, I did the same thing to Floyd. Tried shutting it when it failed to latch, instead of opening and shutting it. I was left with a little dent that is barely noticeable, but I get pissed every time I see it. Worst thing is my 2000GLX had the same dent and I always wondered how it got there. When I dented my TS it was like a Homer moment (Dooogh)

OH NO! That is quite possible! I have done that before. I hadn't even thought about that. I may know where I got them.
