Maybe hard to tell from the pictures but there is a metal plate mounted to the radiator support.

Another question I have is the name of the metal that the fenders bolt to. I have been told they are called fender supports but I cant seem to find anything online that is called fender support for a 2000 beetle. I just want to find out if these can be bought. looks like I can just cut the old ones out and weld new ones on.

Thanks,
Kenny

I went to the link you sent and it is showing me the radiator support but there is a metal plate mounted some how to my radiator support. The metal plate has a thick piece of foam mounted to it and it goes on the other side of the hood latch. And it looks like to me that it is mounted to the radiator support with some sort of compression fitting.
