Default Give me your opinion on the paint scheme I want to do to Dee-Bug

Want to do something a bit different to our Beetle. I want to have the bumper covers, fenders and rockers painted silver as well as the eyelids and taillight covers. Eventually, we want to get the daisy wheels, have them media blasted and powder coated yellow with silver centers..Be honest if you'd like.Like it or not? I stole a pic of someone elses car.Hope they wont get mad...

Did a little tweaking of your picture, per what you said you're wanting. Hope this helps.

I see where you are coming from with the idea, but honestly I do not like the silver on yellow like that. Ummm and black I guess is cliche, what about white instead of the silver. But I looooove the daisy wheels

Not a big fan myself.

There's a autobody shop here in town that has their company beetle painted yellow with white in the places you put silver. It's not that great.

I think the problem with a two-tone paint scheme on a modern vehicle is that there are not solid defining lines on our vehicle to break the color.

On older classic cars from the 50s you'll note that when it goes from Red to White the color change is broken by a chrome highlight. Take a look at some pictures of a '57 Pontiac Laurentian convertible. The white highlight on the body is demarcated with chrome trim.

Basically without a break, the colors clash rather than work with each other.

As for me, I'd go for another color. The yellow/black combo looks better
see...

Still, I'm not a fan of the fenders/runners painted. When it comes to 2-tone beetles, the customary scheme is painting the door area only- for me that's the better scheme. They almost got it right with the final edition; they just needed to paint all the way up to where door meets window. Still, it's the more eye appealing scheme vs. the fenders look IMHO.

The door area scheme- my preference

OK Thanks for the honest opinions..I am not offended at all..As for doing the car with white,I'm not liking that idea. And black?? NO way! The reason,I live in Pa and then I will be thought of as a Steeler fan. I hate everything Steelers and would paint it pink and yellow before I did that. I'd love to get me a blue one and have it air brushed with NY Giants schemes all over it though... I really thought at least one other would maybe like the silver and yellow. I was thinking factory 99 Silver. The photoshop color is a bit lighter than I expected..I am now reconsidering..

For me, I really do like the yellow and silver....esp if perhaps the silver wasn't a very shiny sliver (but not matte either). I think for me, where the silver is placed on the original rendering isn't my favorite.

Have you considered perhaps photoshopping how the yellow and silver would look if you just did the doors, eyelids, tail lights, and do the wheels as you originally designed? Wonder how that would look?

Well I guess I should elaborate more on this. Apparently,at one time in it's life, our bug has had the rear bumper as well as rear fenders repainted. You can see the over spray in small spots and when it was done,it is a bit darker yellow than the rest of the car. The front bumper cover and back bumper cover are scratched up and I am concerned that if I repaint them again,it will look even further off. I have a rear spoiler installed and need to get that as well as eye lids and the taillight daisys painted and I thought maybe a 2 tone job would look a bit better. The main body of the car's paint is decent and really doesn't require a repaint.I have the stock wheels on,but Deanna is insistent she has to have the daisy wheels,so that will be a later addition. For now, I am having more important things fixed to make it dependable. I am doing the skid plate and Timing/water pump 1st. I have a buddy that owes me a favor so I thought I'd have him spray the pieces..I am at this time pondering other ideas..
