It should be real easy to open that up for the cubby and lights. I can't wait to get one!

Rather than start yet another thread on this, I've updated the first post. As you'll see, I'm planning on putting in the order on January 14, and I will contact everyone I know of so far to verify details with them in the near future.

If they make one for a 2001 WITH the sunroof and cut outs for ALL the stuff (all lights, handles, sunglass holders, etc) and it includes the sliding Sunroof Shade; I'll take one in Cyber Green. Is the sunroof shade that slide back and forth done of the same material? Is it painted to match if you choose the painted option? what color is the rubber/plastic trim around the sunroof "hole" when they are done?

I am guessing that having them paint it for $100 is a good deal if they do a good job. Anyone know how their painting/sanding/cutting/buffing skills are? How much should the dealer charge to install this?

Frank, I'll try to get the scoop for you early next week. I'd assume the slider will be the same material, but I don't yet know what the trim would be like around that opening.

As far as the paint, all I've heard so far is that the shop is very professional and insists on a quality product, so I'm thinking they'll do a great job with a set color.

Sorry, I don't know what installation might cost. I'd suggest calling both dealerships and upholstery shops.

Sorry, all, it's been a busy week, but I'm still talking with the company about all of this and working to get the mold made as soon as possible. Frank, I should have your answers soon!

OK, Sounds good. If I go for it, I will probably just have it shipped right to my local VW dealership and have them install it. I don't check the forums that often, so feel free to e-mail me at "NewBeetleBear@aol.com"

Good idea, Frank! And I'll be sure to email you when I get the info, plus when I'm getting things finalized.

Anyone else? We've got about 3 weeks to go!

What are the benefits of putting in a hardtop roof liner? And i am having major brainfarts right now, what did you mean by "THE SUNROOF VERSION SHOULD HAVE EVERYTHING READY FOR THOSE PIECES FROM THE FACTORY!!!" ? This would be a 2002 TDI with sunroof

The benefits I'm looking forward to are the great chance at customization (I'm really looking forward to a smoothe canvas to create on!) and that I'll never have to replace it again. It'll be nice to actually be able to clean it easily, too.

As for having things ready for "those pieces," I was referring to the handles over the front seats (or glasses case on the driver's side if so equipped) and the lights over the back seats. The hardtop version will have to be cut out for those pieces since it's actually molded for a '98, but the sunroof version should be pretty much remove and replace.

Really there aren't any other details I can think of that you'd need to know, I tried to get all the necessary info in the first post of this thread. I'm going to try to get everything moving this coming week and get the order going in a couple weeks.

As for the door panels, sorry they just do the headliners on our cars. I think eBay, stealerships, or maybe kaiser here on the .org would be your best bet for those.

Glad to have you aboard!

I've sent a PM to all that I've heard interest from, other than the few I've talked with recently, just to get a firm idea on the numbers. I'm still looking to get the order in on January 14th, if anyone else is interested!

Well, there's a slight possibility that there will be an order later than the 14th, so maybe something will work for you then!

Welcome to the .org! I guess you'll just have to enjoy your new Beetle in stock-mode for a while!

Well I've sent a number of PMs but only gotten a few responses. I don't mean to rush, but I need to know if the person sending in the stock headliner needs to proceed now, or if they should save their money on shipping costs. I understand that money is an issue for some (maybe many) people right now, and if that's the case let me know that, too.

Thanks, everybody!
