Default WTB: 1999 Beetle Driver Side Door Latch Assembly

I am in FL, USA and I am looking to buy a 1999 Beetle Driver Side Door Latch Assembly. Apparently all my alarm probs have come down to that. Now I am locked out of my car. If someone has one for sale I would appreciate it.

Good luck there. You might try a junk yard.. or is that salvage yard?

New one from the dealer will run you about $150.

You can also try the $3 fix... kinda involved, but if you are moderately mechanically inclined it's doable.

Try contacting Specialized German Recycling at 1-877-643-7626, they may have one for your car.

TY KatieBug27! I am still stumped though, because of the issue im having with the alarm. All things so far point to my driver side door. I sat in my parking lot today and just cried after trying to get in my car for 35 mins. Made me an hr late for work.

take it to the dealer and tell them you need to figure out what's wrong and that you need a parts list of what needs replaced... They should be able to diagnose something!

Yea I tried that except they want a $150 diagnostic fee that is not in this single moms budget for this month! LOL! Thus the reason I tried to figure it out on my own. But at this rate I have no choice I guess. But it will have to wait till next month. But thank you all for ur ideas!

I'm not sure if this is the same issue. But if it's not, disregard the rest of this post.

There was a post on here about beetles having problems with the door lock/latch assembly. It seems as if some solder connections had been done poorly on some buggies. This poor solder connection would cause the car to chime the "door open" sound. I guess through the years they just break down from frequent use. This would also effect the car's alarm system. Making it sound the alarm as if someone opened the door while armed. Also to sound the door open chime while driving. I read the post about the fix and was surprised how cheap the repair can be done for. It's just a lot of labor of removong the door's inners.
