Thumbs down

I purchased one of these fabulous mounts last year, and think it's a terrific gps solution. However, I'd like my gps to sit up higher so that it doesn't block the vent. I'm thinking that if I took a regular plastic bud vase, and got someone to widen the mouth area of it, (heat?) I could stack the gps mount into the bud vase and gain some height.

Has anyone tried this, or does someone know of a similar item that would work, without heat modification?

Thanks -- sheryl

I know you're still working on these. Need a beta tester? It doesn't need to look fancy...just function. I'll have a Droid 2 by the end of the week (free from work...woohoo!) and I really think this flat-top version would work great in combination with the Droid car mount. Will make for nice dash cam videos.

Pretty please?

Hi MIG. So, are these for sale now? I'm still enjoying my original one, but this looks like it could be logistically an improvement...

Oh yeah I've got many available and yes it is an improvement over the old design. Glad to hear that your still enjoying it too. Also you better hang on to that one you have because I don't make those anymore. They might be a collector's item one day

On the new model, what would happen if you sanded the bottom, and around the rim a little?

I know it looks fugly. On top of the fact that it looks like a butt plug .. lol

I tried that to one of them and the suction mount just wouldn't hold. I'm sure with more sanding and polishing, a clean smooth looking surface that works could be achieved.

I'd like to take my original mount, cut the shaft in half and insert and adjustable rod that would allow me to extend it higher during a/c (and heating) season. Has anyone modded theirs?

Default Custom Garmin GPS Mount wanted

Dear Mig,

In March I will get my new beetle cabrio and I was searching on the web for a GPS. I came on youtube and saw your film about the Custom Garmin GPS Mount that you made.

I am very interested in this item. Can you tell me how do I can get a Mount like that one? Do you have any left? Or can you make one?

Dear regards,

Liselotte

Hi there,
I'm not sure if you are refering to the old design or the new one. I had plenty of pictures up on Photobucket and now my account has been removed and all the pictures lost. (wasn't keeping it acive I guess)

The best way to put it:
The old one looks like an "L" (upside down)
The new one looks like a "T" (circular flat top to accept a suction cup mount)

"L" is discontinued and no longer available - made only for the Garmin Nuvi device.

"T" is available - more of a universal mount for all devices.

I'll try to get new pictures up of the new design.

Thanks for your interest,
MiG
