Default black rearview mirror?

i've noticed some beetles with black rearview mirrors, that appear otherwise stock so i don't think it was painted. did some years or specific models come with these? i'd like to "blacken" my interior a little and i'm hoping to find one of these, just need to know where to look.

thanks

I got my black rearview mirror from the paint section of Wally-world, but I'm interested to find out about any factory black ones too.

More important, though, would be finding black sun visors -- those are much harder to paint (I've found out the hard way).

Also, I'm about to ask a mod to move this post to "styling modifications" for you.

Default Black as well

I also painted my rear view mirror black, but because of the amount of items I needed black I bought a quart and had it sprayed with a paint gun. I always thought it was stupid for VW to have gray on the bottom portion of the dash, then go to black, and then go back to gray on the A-Pillars and Header. I lost a couple days of my life, becasue of those fools, a couple, yeah right! The color is a standard black interior paint. As far as the sun visors go, he opted to use a rattle can for flexible vynle paint. Another little tip, if you get any nicks, I carry a black sharpie to hit those spots, and you can't even tell. Here's a comparison picture I have posted in the "Photo: New Beetle" forum. Here's the page link (its on page two):

but if you dont want to look through those, here's just the comparison:

Have fun!
Phil

btw... I'm bored outta my mind, so this month I'm going to dismantle the lower dash, console, doors and rear panels and convert the whole interior to black. I'll keep ya posted. Also, I haven't searched it yet, but if anyone reads this and could suggest a good paint to use on the door inserts / arm rest I would appreciate it, if not I assume I'll just use the same stuff I used on the visors.
