Hi All,
I'm trying to find 1.8T Clear Marker Lenses, both sides front and rear, for my 04' NB Turbo S. Does anyone know who sells these/where to find them, besides ECS Tuning? (they're a bit expensive) No one I could find on eBay has them either. They're NOT side indicator/blinkers, just markers. Any help with this would be most appreciated. Thanks very much.

I'm assuming you are referring to the covers for the front and rear parking light/turn signal lights, that are now amber and red, respectively. I read a post, from a very knowledgable Orger member the other day about this. It seems the are actually two lens, pressed, but not bonded, together. The orange can be pried out of the front ones and the red can be pried out of the rear ones. Cost $0.00 (Unless of course you break the first one figuring out EXACTLY how, and getting the knack of it.)

Search differnt key words in the "Search" located on the bar above. Use the "Show Posts" as opposed to the "Show Threads" option. If that does find the post for you, I'm sure someone will come along here, who either remembers who wrote the post, the Thread it was in, or who has done it themselves.

Best of Luck, Friend!

Buy two of these:
98 99 00 01 02 03 04 05 VW Beetle Clear Bumper Lights

Then sell the ones that don't fit to regular Beetle owners.

Unfortunately, in looking at these, I don't believe they'd work. Mine look like the size of the smaller ones but, although I didn't take the rear one off, the back side of the front one doesn't look like the one in this picture. These here are both indicator/blinker lights whereas mine, both front and rear, though they DO light up when you turn the headlights on, don't blink. They're just side markers. So, thanks for the suggestion but I'd just be buying them for nothing.

I didn't understand the first time around. If ECS has the ones you need, and I understand what those are now, ECS is probably going to be you best bet. Unless you happen on someone who is parting out or un-moding. Does ECS show an OEM part number?

I too have a Turbo S so I have already looked into this.
The rears of a regular Beetle are the same as our Turbo S fronts.
You would not use the clear front turn/markers that came in the set (Hence the suggestion to sell the larger unused front clears)

Do you have a link to ECS's listing? I don't seem to find them.

The clear corners I got on ebay awhile back. I only put them on the front. Was told that the back would look pink so never put them on.
But the reds are the same as normal bug. But the Ambers will cost alot.

You know what, that was MY mistake. I thought they were the right one's but ECS wrote back to me to confirm they weren't, so, still looking...

Yeah, I kind of thought that too as they look so similar. If that IS the case, if you know for SURE they'll work, they've got some on eBay and eBay UK, just the the regular clear rears so I wouldn't have to get a complete set. That'll take care of clears for the front, what about the rears? I don't guess the one's you mentioned would fit ours for the back too, would they? What then? Here's the ECS link and thanks SO much for the tip. Volkswagen New Beetle 1.8T > Lighting > View All > ES#250860 New Beetle Clear Marker Light Set - FKBL193 Thanks again for your help with this.

Those look GREAT on the front but what do you mean you were told that the back would look pink? Why? If you've got a white bulb, why would clear marker lenses look pink? In any case, you say OUR rear reds are the same as a normal bug? Do you mean clear rears from a normal bug would fit the rear of ours? I'm confused...Help!

I guess it would depend on the bulb. If you put a red bulb behind the clear. I have Amber bulbs in front and at night look very Amber. But I was going with at theme since the front is very light and the rear is dark. Turns are clear as well, so it kinda matches.
The fronts and rears are the same. Just flipped. I've thought about the Euro look that is all four Amber. But only have 3 good Ambers 1 is broken.
The rears from a normal bug will work on all 4 corners, if you wanted red all around. The part number for the normal bug is way cheaper than if you ask for a TS corner at the dealer.
Something like $70 each vs. $19. (reds) Ambers were $70 since they were only use on the TS.

Thanks SO much for clarifying that for me! As a matter of fact, the link from VDub Dan-O for the 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 05 VW Beetle Clear Bumper Lights WAS right after all. When I first looked at the rears, I didn't realize the covered hole is where the fitment goes, duh! After comparing the pic to my amber fronts, they ARE correct afterall, so I apologize for saying they weren't. So, if, as you say, the regular bug's rears will fit on all our 4 corners, they're just flipped, that's good enough for me! They've got clear rears on eBay and eBay UK so I'll just be busy finding them at the best price. BTW, when I get 4 clears, if you want, I'll sell you my ambers and reds, although, unfortunately (stupid ME) after reading the post from MyOtherRidesAVette about prying off the top lenses, I tried to at the upper left side of the drivers side amber light and a small piece broke off. I put it back on with super glue though so it's all good, you can't even see it. Anyway, if your'e interested in any of them let me know and as soon as I can get 4 clears to replace mine I'll sell them to you, cheap. OK? Thanks again very much for everyone's input and help with this but especially YOURS, a fellow TS owner. We both know how 'special' our TS's are whenever we try and find a part (says it fits 02'-04' 1.8T, just NOT Turbo S!), right?! Lol!

Mutato, if you get red LED bulbs for the back they will be red.I have LED bulbs in mine and they look good(not pink at all). When I first got them I put in regular red bulbs and they were pink.

Haven't done much with LED, I got a set of Amber LEDs that I was going to put in the city lights, but never have.

Cool! I found a pair of Crystal Clear Side Indicators at a great price from a really nice UK Seller on eBay so I bought 2 sets. I'll let you know when I receive them and get them installed on my car, OK? The ambers are yours if you want them. Wow this thread needs a whole lot of clarification. The clear lenses are all aftermarket, there were no OEM clear lenses for the Turbo S / V5 sport bumpers, they were only made in red and orange. The only lenses you can remove the amber from is the taillights, everything else is moulded together solid.

People need to back up their facts before they start posting misinformation and confusing people.

Default Clarifications:

Here's the list:
  • First gen REAR regular New Beetle bumper lights fit in the FRONT and REAR of a Turbo S bumper. Yes the rears are red and you can't run red lights in the front of a non-emergency vehicle.
  • After-market clear first gen regular New Beetle REAR lights will fit Turbo S FRONTS and REARS to have a custom clear corner look. If you buy two sets of clear corners for a regular first gen New Beetle you can use the REAR lights and sell the fronts that came with them.

AddToChaos, that link that you posted sure looks like it's for a set of repeaters mounted in the fender by the mirror. THOSE DON'T LOOK LIKE BUMPER LIGHTS. I wonder if the seller will let you cancel the transaction? Plus, for the money you're spending, you could buy the ones I posted and sell the unused fronts to offset the costs.
