May '07 Monthly Photo Assignment: Music

I'm still here! I wanted to see how many of you were enjoying the monthly photo assignments. I am saddened to say that there weren't many that mentioned anything to me. It's ok though. I am here to reassure everyone that there is going to be more assignments! So get out there and shoot photo's!

So on with May!

Music......Show me what music means to you!


Here is a couple of my favorites from the past.

#1 Ibanez EDB-405, 5 string Bass. My practice and fun bass. The Ergodyne body weighs a ton, but the tones that come out of this kicks Out of the 10+ basses I have owned, this neck beats all but my '77 Fender Precision fretless neck. (Sold)

#2 Tradition MA-31 Michael Angelo Signature edition, Guitar. Still attempting to learn. I just can't make my fingers hit the right strings to play proper chords. Oh well, it's still fun!

#3 Carvin LB-76, 6 string bass. This is the only bass I have bought brand new. It was custom made for me. It's sailed to the Persian Gulf twice and has been played at every show I have ever played (All 3 of them!) This one gets babied!

Hope yall don't kick me out of the Clubhouse for not being around much. You're still my Beetle Buddy's

Justin, you have a winning combo this month, 2 very important things in my life, Music and Photography.
My stained glass work has pretty much taken over my time spent doing photography. But music is always there. 24/7.

#1 for me is singing....how could I photograph that?....while singing?
I'll have to think on that one

It doesn't have to be you and your musical talents....why not a stack of old vinyl? Or how about the Mic you use? What about a cool pic of your radio?


There are tons of ideas out there, I just chose to shoot a couple of my guitars.

As soon as I think of a creative way to shoot my Banjo and my Harps...I'll post them. I'm drawing a blank right now...but I'll come up with something by month end.
Thought about dressing in overalls and putting on a straw hat to play Blondie(the banjo), but I don't want to stereotype my instrument of choice.

I finally got a chance to shoot some new stuff!

These were shot on Saturday evening at Poulsbo's Viking Fest.

The Drummer for this band (I forgot the name already!) was a painter at one of the houses I have been doing wiring in.

(I'll update this post when I remember the bands name!)

I've had this trumet for 16 years, it hass travelled to 3 continents with me, survived many a parade and has the scars to prove it. Music ranging from Classical Symphonies, Pop marching band arrangements, jazz classics and my improvization have passed through its tubing.

And this is a PERFECT example of why I like doing monthly assignments!

It gets someone to try shooting something out of what they normally shoot, OR even just shooting for the first time!

You did a good job James! I'm glad you made the first step toward greatness!

Toad: are the VW logo's inlayed or painted on the fretboard?

missruby....Start them young!

sourmash....Just dig that banjo and harps out....look at each angle and curve....put those into the photo!

The logo is inlaid. Too bad this is a "toy" in hte real guitar world, it's pretty sweet looking. Even though if i had a real guitar, i still wouldnt be able to play it.
